All my guns are in one caliber.

My gunsmith looked at me kinda oddly when I brought in all my bolt action rifles to be chambered in 9mm so that they'd be compatble with my Glock 17. Silly guy.

My collection changes a lot, but at the moment just in handguns I have:

5- .38 Specials (3 J-frames, 2 K-frames)
2- .357 Magnums (1 L-frame, 1 SP101)
4- 9x19mm pistols
5- .45ACP pistols

In addition I have 2 .44 Specials on layaway, a Charter Arms Bulldog and a S&W 21-4.

Longguns, I don't have as much overlap, but I have 2-12 gauges and 2-7.62x54R rifles.

Perhaps this is just a little bit paranoid of me, but the reason I have multiple examples of each chambering is backup in case of failure. My 3 J-frames, for instance, are all exactly the same. One I carry as a BUG on and off-duty, the other two are NIB in case the one I use wears out or ends up in evidence after a shooting. S&W doesn't make the model I carry anymore, and I won't carry a lock gun for defense. I'm in my late 30's, so I figure three Airweights should last me a lifetime.

My main shooting pass time is IDPA. So, I have several guns I use for that, and having a spare in the event of a failure at a major match is a consideration. Since they are the same gun other than serial number having to switch in the middle is less of a concern.

I like to have a spare copy of any gun I carry for defense. One I shoot the heck out of, the other only gets shot to verify reliability and point of impact, then each year for qualification. Again, since the guns are the same other than serial number, practice with one equates practice with the other and there is less chance of parts failure in a crisis since my actual carry guns are not fired very often. The only real exception to this rule is the Airweight J-frame. I do most of my 5-shot revolver shooting with the SP101, but the practice relates well enough to the J that I only shoot it at qualification. I'll probably pick up a steel J at some point to make practice even more relevant.

See, kind of paranoid, but it works for me.

I have a wammo wrist rocket with different size marbles does that count as different calibers:D:D

I'm surprised that I didn't hit this poll when it was fresh, so this is kind of late; Where's the 5+ for one caliber?

Anyway I voted 5:1. Even though I don't have a 5:1. I have a 4:1 in .30 carbine. But I have more than 5 12ga shotguns.

Winchester 94AE Ranger .357 Magnum
Smith & Wesson 640 .357 Magnum

A good pair.

2 Ruger 10/22s

1 Ruger Single Six (.22,.22mag.)
.22s are fun to shoot and still pretty inexpensive.
