Hi guys, today I went to a local shop with a buddy to look at rifles and shotguns and something caught my attention. They had two 590A1 tactical models. They were both 9rd, regular stock, and ghost sights.

Only difference between the two was one of them had 590A1 stamped on it, other had nothing. The one with the stamping was $80 more.

Any reason for this price jump for just a stamping?

maybe the want the one without the stamp to sell quicker, so they priced the one with the stamp a lot higher to make you think you were getting a good deal on the other one?

no, regular 590s have regular barrels. The 590A1 Special Purpose has a heavier barrel, metal trigger guard and metal safety button as requested by law enforcement and military.

In fact the more expensive one probably said "M590A1" stamped in pretty big letters on the side.

ahh, ok. I see now. Previously I had just been looking at their website and they dont list the regular 590's. I thought all 590's were Special Purpose but just did some more research and now see they have the 590's and 590A1's. So yeah, youre probably right, the cheaper is probably just a 590. OK, problem solved, thanks.

And you're right too Al, it was M590A1

In my local gun shop, it's possible to see the same model at different prices.

They price the gun when it comes in, and it stays at that price until it's sold. If it's still there after a price hike, it stays at the same price. So, if another gun of the same make and model comes in costing more, that can account for the price difference.

Example.

Just this past week they sold a Saiga 7.62x39 for $299. It was priced in 2007. Their a little more than that now.
