GLOCK vs. XD

Both make fine pistols IMO.

However, I really like the fact that anyone can work on a Glock and replace worn or damaged parts without sending it back to Glock or to a gunsmith.

I've had both. Both are good guns with their own strengths and weaknesses. The Glock works better for my needs. But I won't argue with someone who prefers the XD.

^^^ hahaha

They're both great handguns. It all comes down to the way they fit an individuals hands and needs. I went with Glock simply because I like it's "safe action" design and it's super easy to find parts for.

I'm a Glock fanboy and I choose the Glock. Glock has more calibers and models and far more after market stuff. Quality wise the guns are probably close to equal I just prefer Glock. Being a Glock armorer and the ease to become one is a nice add on for the Glock too. (What other gun company allows civies to take the armorer's class?)

I wonder whose beer is better Austria or Croatia? :D

That being said I prefer the XD over the M&P. If I didn't have Glock I would probably go HK, Beretta or Walther over XD (I just wouldn't be able to afford as many as I would like)

Only issues with the XD: I wish the trigger reset was a little more crisp, parts were more available and I have no need or like of the grip safety.

the maker of the XD, makes a fine pistol.

Nice I'll be waiting for the second round of fireworks, pass the popcorn! Joking aside, I'm a fan of both but I've owned 3 XD's, sold one but only because I wanted a compact for concealed carry. I'm pretty sure my next purchase will be a glock.

Both are great choices, but I prefer the Glock. XD doesn't do anything a Glock can't, and I don't need crap like grip safeties

^ I agree for the most part.

I think the Glock trigger is better, that said, I love the way the full size XD45 shoots and would get it if I wanted a .45.

I also think the XD is more comfortable to hold, but I think thats a stupid reason to buy a gun, I prefer to shoot my guns, not hold and caress them :p

So overall I like Glocks better but eventually would like to own at least 1 XD

My G19 and XDm .40 are two guns I'll never get rid of. Both have been perfect and also have their own unique characteristics. The only time I would take one over the other is when it comes to tearing them down. The Glock is easy, but the XDm is stupid easy. Everything in life should be that simple.

Are you referring to quick field strip, or are you referring to a complete detail strip?

For a quick field strip, the XD is really no easier than the Glock.

But for a quick detail strip, I think that Glock can't be beat.

I sold the XD after owning both for a few years. I just never found the XD appealing. I didn't like the trigger reset.

I like the XD and my wife has the G36 and loves it. My hands fit XD's better, glocks just dont really fit my hand. Handle each and see which feels best. I like the xd trigger over the glock, and did a little work with the glock trigger but... wife likes it alright so everythings happy.

I'd say they are the other way around

Both will do their job. Both have a cult following. Both will shoot 9mm, .40 S&W, or .45 ACP depending on the model. In recent generations both have an accessory rail. Both are striker-fired. Both are capable of great accuracy. Both have magazines that sell for under $30 and work great. Both are light-weight.

Did I miss anything?

I dig my XD45T, my only regret being that MechTech makes carbine conversion units that snap into Glock lowers.

What is the sound of one mouth drooling...?

Nice video!! Of course I had to click on the 1911 video as well. Funny stuff, but also factual. I have an XDM and love it. My buddy has a Glock and feels the same. I don't mind the grip safety on the springfield that some people complain about, as I only fire it while gripping it. Any extra safety that doesn't affect operation is good in my eyes. It's all personal preference. Rappers seem to rap about glocks an awful lot, but tactical operators seem to like XD's. It's up to you.

O'rly? Is that why the Glock is one of the most widely used military and police pistols on the planet and the HS2000 (XD) is used officially by no one other than the Croation military/police forces?
