I heard it was supposed to be released this month so hopefully. Wonder if it'll be as "wallet friendly" as the 995s. If so it might be a new addition :)

Would you guys pay $300+ for the .45 carbine? I have a feeling it will sell for about $325, that's too much. I really like their compact size but be realistic, you could get much more weapon for the same price range. Look how much Hi-Point carbines have gone up since they were introduced about 15 years ago! My fugly Hi Point 9mm carbine was purchased for $125 NIB between
1995-1998. I can't remember the exact purchase date.

Will it take 1911 mags? (preferably officer-size)
Will it feature the surprisingly good ergonomics of the present 9mm carbines?
Will it have standard aperture sights?

If all three are yes, then I'd probably jump on it. I might even consider some tinkering to get compact 1911 mags to fit.
What can I say, I like cheap carbines that take existing pistol mags. KelTec won out last time around because the sub2000 doesn't need a special mag (even though I don't have/want a Block, the Block mags are cheap, plentiful, and large if desired) ... a carbine that takes mags I already have would be a winner, if there's a stripped-down basic model without silly tactical crap stuck onto it.

The capacity is listed as being nine rounds, so no, it's not going to take 1911 mags. This is a big reason why I'm holding out for a Sub-2000 over a 995; a ten-round capacity might make sense in a handgun, but I'd much rather be able to lock a 33rd Glock magazine into a carbine. I realize there are 15-rounders available for the Hi-Point, but there's no way I'm going to trust my life to a ProMag product.

That would be interesting to see. I kind of liked the original "monstrosity" of a stock. I think it looks better than that new contraption they're using now.

I just put an ATI stock on my Godson's 995 last week. It completely transforms the appearance of the gun. It's very solid and sturdy too, far more so than the factory stock.

I actually found myself wanting to run to the store and buy one, it's that neat looking and sturdy feeling with the ATI stock in place.

I have been waiting for this carbine for several years. Now that they have come out with it, it is more than I am willing to spend on a hi point. I can see 200 bucks for a rifle made out of zinc and plastic but not 330 that is just kinda ridiculous.

Well that's a big bag of FAIL, if you ask me. I'll check one out but that puts a damper on my enthusiasm.

It is pretty spiffy to blast out 33 rounds from the sub2000. Pick up a 33x and 17x mag and that's a 50 round box of ammo gone with one mag change. And mine doesn't mind the cheap steel-case crap, either!

I'm going to agree, that the lack of extended-capacity magazines, if true, is a bit of a down-side. I personally think these pistol-carbines beg for glock-esque 33 round magazines. A .45 carbine with a 28-30 round magazine would be a real WIN for me. I think thats one of the reasons I can't warm up to the Beretta carbine...15 rounds max? In a rifle?

Just read someone on the hipoint forum picked one up for $274 OTD. At that price I would probably buy too. Come on now, a 45 carbine for less than $300.
