i took out my '58 today after not having shot it since about a year and a half ago and noticed a small spot of rust on the frame where the hammer rests . so i immediately tore it all apart and thoroughly cleaned every nook and cranny. then oiled the crap out of it. then while it was out and all greased up i decided to take a few pics so here they are!

this was my first BP revolver and i love it. i definitely need to go out and shoot it again its been too long!

Yep. Sorry to have to say it but you did it all wrong.

1) Gun comes out of storage, owner notices rust.
2) Owner loads gun, shoots 100 rounds.
3) Owner disassembles gun.
4) Owner thoroughly cleans gun, removing rust.
5) Owner starts process over gain, starting at No. 2.

You left out Step No. 2. Tsk, Tsk.:(

My '58 does not fit that western holster as well as the '60 Colt does. I need to send to Track of the Wolf for the black military flap type. Guess that will also keep the weather out of it when in the field.

If ya can hold off awhile I'm going to be making some military flap holsters except they will be suede lined to keep the blueing loss at a minimum...unlike the ones made now which are bare leather on the inside.

BlueHawk - I have to hold off awhile - need to scrape up money every so often for gun stuff. Retirement money comes slow.
Madcratebuilder - I do not store guns in a holster. All guns are in a locker with one of those dehumidifier gadgets. Revolvers are all lined up hanging from wood pegs, muzzles down, in the back of the locker. Holsters are for "show off" times.

send me pics 1,2, and 3 and I will retouch the scratch out of the holster for ya....you will never know it existed!
