Ok, I just bought my first AK, so I got on youtube to check out reviews and comparisons, especially the old AK vs. AR Military channel shows. I saw in the sidebar a review by nutnfancy and checked it out, and then watched one about CCW and the Urban Survival Kit.
My first thought was who IS this guy? I had never heard of him so I'm late to the party, but I searched on THR and see that he is mentioned here several times with thoughts both psitive and negative. I posted to an older thread but could not revive it, so I figured I would start a new one. (I usually lurk but occasionally post here).
Overall, I liked his videos. What I like is what I would call a Boy Scout attitude about being prepared, helping others and leadership, but from a more adult perspective.
I also appreciate that he addresses issues regarding CCW, disaster preparedness and the public policy and debate surrounding these issues maturely and without being catastrophic in perspective, eg "the end is nigh". A scenario involving these elements doesn't necessarily mean a disaster or attack, it could also mean the city's team has won the championship and the fans are in the street setting police cars on fire and smashing store windows.
He is longwinded, but I think this may be a result of personality and whatever training he has which has likely made him somewhat OCD. He still does a pretty good job doing these videos in an unscripted format. Many people I work with, although not addressing the same issues (non-military/LEO), communicate ideas in very much the same manner. He tends to repeat key concepts without getting too mired down in details, and returns back to concepts after speaking about those details, which I think is an effective way to communicate the ideas. I thought this was especially the case with the Urban Survival Kit and SAWC, or space and weight capacity.
At the end of the day, I find his videos informative, interesting and even entertaining. I laughed out loud more than a few times, not because I was lauging at him at all, but because I found the level of detail and thought on some things funny even if warranted and true. He obviously enjoys what he's doing, which makes him fun to watch. I did think this is probably someone who drives his wife and kids a little crazy from time to time, though. I can see the videos being the result of someone saying, "you know what, go tell someone else!"
I searched the threads here and found others mentioned who have similar videos, so I'll be checking those out as well. Just thought I'd throw out my thoughts.
