I like his vids but he can get kind of annoying sometimes. Basically I think that people invest sooooo much in the guns that they buy that they feel THEIR choice is the only choice. If someone disagrees with their choice then obviously they don't know what they're talking about and it may even be a personal insult.
I'm a gun guy but I'm not brand specific. Just about every major gun manufacturer puts out a decent gun (although the entire product line may not be good). Someone else's choice may not be mine. It's all good. Competition makes the world go around and helps keep prices down.
I would trust Nutnfancy over the gun magazines since he's not paid for his reviews and I have NEVER seen a major advertiser blasted in a gun mag.
Never.
Try Mrlockandload on YouTube. He's got some good reviews as well. Sootch00 is really good too.

The thing I don't understand is why you wouldn't support him for the simple fact he is promoting/supporting our hobby. If you disagree with his motives, philosophies or techniques, that's alright, grab a camera and show a better way.

LOL. good stuff here guys. Personally, i have watched a few of his videos. He has some good stuff, some bad stuff, but I think his value lies in getting folks talking and getting positive exposure out there for the 2A community.

Beyond that though I do not hold him any higher/lower than any of the other guys I see in youtube.

He sounds exactly like the guy who calls me all the time trying to sell me gold.

I've been swayed by a few of the knife videos, but I get a wide range of reviews for any major purchase I'm making. It usually ends up that he has a video on the knife I'm considering.

haters gonna hate,

why u ask me? becasue they were to thick to jump in the band wagon when going was hot. and now they envy that he has almost 100 thousand wievers that watch him doing stuff <edit -- Sam> he loves.

Because he does it poorly. I do not have the time or the energy to make videos for people on the internet. I am far to busy working on my own skills... it's a full time job.

So in English that means what?

He doesn't know nearly as much as he thinks he does, and he demonstrates this by making videos of ponderous length.
+1

I was watching one of his newer videos where he went to a gun shop and signed T-shirts, engraved knives, etc. He only engraved knives HE liked! So if he reviewed it and didn't like it or never reviewed it, it wasn't getting touched. The problem with this is, not all people can spend up wards of $500 on a single knife (this includes me).

I don't want to hi-jack this thread but I'm plenty happy with my assist opening knife that I carry every day, it's never failed me no matter how much I beat it and it only cost $15!

Long-winded I can tolerate: Case in point - Hickok45.

But every pistol review suddenly becomes about his glock. And when 25 minutes of 30 becomes about how much more he likes his glock, I'm no longer interested.

He needs to cut the slang lingo out.

Dude and sheepdog esp---there was one vid where he and his buddies were standing outside the shop--and there were more "dude's" slung about in 30 seconds that I couldn't even keep count.

Annoying

MrOldLude, I still watch Nutnfancy but I prefer Hickok. Hickok makes his videos less boring and because of that I can watch one of his 40 minute videos, but Nutn talks about other things for 10 minutes before he actually talks about what he's reviewing and then does an hour long boring knife review.

Edit:

Let me explain something to you. He's the Dude. So that's what you call him. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.:D

Agreed. I have pretty much enjoyed all of Hickok45's videos. He always brings in the history of the item he's reviewing/showing, and I enjoy that immensely.

If you enjoy guns, knives, flashlights, and hiking, camping and outdoor gear the videos are great. He is in no way a gun guru and often points that out. He is a consumer advocate and he is great at that.

I enjoy his videos a lot and don't mind the length. Many times when people want to find out if a product is good or bad they go to a forum and get answers that will basically tell them only that. His videos actually explain why he does or does not like a product. For instance while reviewing the Ruger 22/45 pistol he field stripped it, showing the audience the procedure and letting them decide if it is too much.

Many of us like guns for different reasons. If you do not hunt but have guns for personal and community safety you may enjoy his videos more than if you're strictly a hunter.

Maybe I like him because I also put large emphasis on weight with my gear. Strapping on a backpack and walking over mountains tends to have that effect. Which reminds me of something else, you can actually see him using and testing his gear in his hiking and "run and gun" videos. If he says a product is reliable I tend to believe him, as opposed to someone who may just be driving to the range, firing off a few rounds slowly and then reporting flawless functioning.

So I like his videos because he reviews "cool" stuff for the same purposes I use them for, he is thorough, and he puts what he reviews through good hard use (usually). Not to mention the guy seems to know how to have some fun.

There are a lot of people that seem to hate Nutnfancy. I have watched a few of his reviews and he seems to have a genuine enthusiasm for shooting and advancing 2A rights in the US. He does dwell a bit on things and over uses the word "tactical" and dresses in camo for no particular reason.

Watching his review helped me to choose my SR9 (one VERY reliable pistol) as he said it compares favorably to the Glock 17(what he considers the Holy Grail).

Since he is not paid by manufacturers(I believe this to be true) he can give you a more objective opinion.

My advice for people that hate Nutnfancy, don't watch his videos. No one is forcing anyone to watch them.

I've watched both Hickok45 and Nutnfancy. To me Hickok is much more informative to watch. Plus I just seem to like Hickok's personality. He comes across more as a smart uncle passing on what he knows.

I just can not get in to Nutnfancy or his whole "Sheepdog" thing. He strikes me as a tacticool frat boy trying too hard to seem smarter than everybody else.

That is just my opinion. YMMV

I find him ever so slightly annoying (especially the sheepdog bits).

He also places too much emphasis on capacity and weight IMO.

Anything in 9mm with more capacity gets a win in his book. I'm not going to comment on which caliber is better since that horse has been beat to death, but 13 rounds of .40 does not mean more firepower than 15 rounds of 9mm IMO.

Unless you are going to war with lots of ammo and other gear, or you have a severely bad back issue...the weight difference between a glock 26 and a commander sized 1911 is minimal at the day's end when carried with a good belt.

In the end, he is stating his opinion and I am free to watch and criticize or simply not watch...and most of the time I choose the latter.
