AWorthyOpponent, your quote from that site claims his job is to make these videos, is this true? I could have sworn he did this all during him free time.

"but if making these videos was my job I would put a little more in the production values"

Even if it's just a hobby, taking some pride in your craft is a good thing. If you want to be taken seriously when posting on a forum, reasonably proper grammar and spelling are good things to know.

Likewise, if you're going to make videos, having a basic grasp of using microphones, shooting b-roll, and an understanding of editing and how it plays into making concise and interesting videos is probably something that you should be familiar with.

Love him or hate him, you have to admit one thing...we ALL know who he is. LOL.

If i asked the same thing about Gourangas videos...

Yeah, but he's not Lindsey Lohan famous...

I do like hickok45 better after watching some of his vids. Less general BS by far.

I like his gear reviews, they are informative. His philosophy, not as much. His "tactical" attitude is a little extreme.

The quality of his videos have gone up a lot though. I mean long-winded-ness aside he's probably one of the better YouTubers out there. Not everyone starts at the top of their craft. Heck he actually started out just making a few review videos for amazon and it grew from there.

I've been starting to get into Hickok45's videos but so far(I'm going in chronological order, as I did with Nutnfancy) I find nutnfancy's videos more entertaining.

And why does everyone knock on his "sheepdog" thing? I mean all he's advocating is an armed, prepared society. Don't we do that here? (Not a rhetorical question I'm actually quite confused about this.)

I'm all for an armed populace willing to defend itself, but when I hear people droning on about sheepdogs I can't help but mentally substitute "self-serious mall ninja wannabe" in it's place.

That's true I can see why you'd think that. It is kinda mall-ninja-y. Well I guess his heart's in the right place, but now I may not be able to unsee the Shopping Center Defender in his antics now haha.

Yeah he does beat the sheepdog thing to death. Personally, I don't see myself that way. I see myself as an armed citizen who wants to be able to protect himself and his family. Sheepdog seems to insinuate I am carrying for a greater good or trying to in some way corral and protect "sheep". Personally, I can care less if others want to protect themselves or not. It is their choice and I won't knock them down or badger them for it. So long as they leave my rights in place and don't try to infringe on them.

and a positive influence to the gun community.
Haha,ohwow.jpg

Seriously? His misguided, romanticized ideals about self defense, and self aggrandizing belief that he is some sort of hero-waiting-to-happen is not a good example.

So Gouranga, you are saying if were in the position to be able to help someone other than yourself or your family you wouldn't?

I hope everyone doesn't think that way.

The whole sheepdog thing is a little to close to this for my liking "If you want to laugh at somebody, try laughing at the sheep out there who go to the mall unarmed trusting in me to stand guiard over their lives like a God."
Also, I can't help but roll my eyes whenever he whines about for example a Ruger SP101 being too heavy. I understand that some people have health issues, but for the average person I don't think that something like 28 oz is going to break your legs to strap it onto you.

With every thing in life there is always someone who is a "hater". He has some good information, but he also is pretty biased even though he says he isn't or isn't trying to be. For example: he compare 9mm's to .40's and says the 9mm wins because it holds more rounds. He is extremely hardcore for 9mm, but he still tries out other rounds and says their praises, but does some unfair comparisons.

For rifles he is pretty okay.

His main pet peeve is weight. A good thing to consider but 1 pound to him on a rifle is rather unacceptable to him it seems. Especially when it comes to DI vs Piston.

Overall, I like watching his videos. I never base a purchase solely off what he says though. Like every other reviewer on the internet, take it with a grain of salt, your own experience, and plenty of research.

Edit: He is also long winded. But there is usually some good info in there some where. One reason I do like him is beause he doesn't take himself too seriously.
Unbiased does not mean he doesn't have opinions or preferences. 99% of the gun magazines out there get their revenue from gun advertisements, and it shows in the garbage they pass off as "reviews". In this sense, Nutn is truly unbiased.

I like nutn. I don't agree with everything he says and he does get a bit longwinded and preachy at times, but overall I think what he does is good for gunowners and the shooting community. His reviews are pretty straightforward and honest, and he's not afraid to tell it like it is.

Time to throw my hat into the ring...

Truth: I have only watched 2 full nutnfancy videos.

Truth: I have skimmed over nearly all of them.

Opinion: For the most part he is very straightforward and levelheaded on most everything he speaks. Of course, as was mentioned, when he gets going on sheepdogs, things get a little bit wierd for me. Nonetheless though, he is doing a great service to the populace by educating and informing gunowners and nongunowners alike. I wont speak for his methods or ideals because he is the one putting himself out there. I dont see anyone else doing anything similar. His rhetoric and rants can be tiring but the latest issue of American Rifleman was way more tiring and the last Guns & Ammo was pasted with so many ads I didnt know what was an article.

For the most part I am satisfied with skimming the vids. I believe nutnfancy is a valuable asset to the gun culture even if he is a little full of himself.

For his age, he straight up sounds like a teenager <redacted -- Sam>. A little odd he's always in camo and dressed to the hilt in tactical gear. I think he needs a real day job, anyone can get noticed on youtube these days.

I'm pretty sure he has a day job. He does the project in his spare time.

He does sound young for his age, but I don't see a problem with that.

Some of you guys may need to learn a few things about the internet. He isn't making his living posting videos on youtube. He has a day job and he does this in his spare time.

He has good info. I like his sharp videos.

Hey, we all have our preferences. My son carries only 40 cal and 45 auto, I carry 9mm and 357 caliber. We argue all the time about it, but the large caliber ideas are interesting and reasonable to me.

So, don't hate on him for his opinion; we all have our own.

I think he means unbiased based on some others that get money from a manufacturer for advertising, and then they review that manufacturers product favorably just to keep them happy.

Nutn likes certain things for sure, and the things he likes he uses as a benchmark when reviewing other similar items. Seems fairly logical.

Jeeez, some of us need to lighten up! :D His enthusiasm alone is worth the price of admission! Hickok's, too. And to boot, both have responded to my queries regarding firearms knowledgeably, thoughtfully and politely.

I like 'em both.

Insofar as "biased" reviews are concerned, I'm not surprised he like most of the firearms he reviews---most firearms are very well-made! After all, we're not talking kitchen appliances here.

I've seen several of his videos while surfing, or while looking for info on a particular firearm.
While I don't agree with most of his opinions, his videos are watchable.

no thanks go play solider somewhere else
He is a soldier in the USAF... a Lieutenant Colonel if im not mistaken

That's great I really don't care.

I was referring to his Glock carrying tacticool fan boys (Gecko45). Go carry guns to protect the "sheep", and other such nonsense.

If you want to carry a gun and protect people go become a cop or join the military.

He does our hobby no favors.

He doesn't get paid for advertising. Unbiased does not mean you don't have an opinion.

I don't take everything he says as fact, like every other source I listen to what he says and make up my own mind. But compared to the gun magazines, gun TV shows, and about 99% of the other sources of product information out there, he's about as unbiased as you are going to find for anyone reviewing any product, be it guns, cars, etc.

All I take from his Sheepdog talk is that in a time of need others may look to you for help, and you should be ready. If you think he means go out and play super hero crime fighter then I don't know what to tell you.

Youtube pays a lot of money to people with a lot of views on their youtube account. I bet Nutnfancy is balling now.
