In a previous thread I stated that I was 98% certain that my new 9mm would be a Glock 19. The other 2% goes to the CZ 75. Any pros and/or cons to the Glock 19 vs CZ 75 question?

Lots more stuff out there for Glocks. Glock parts and mags are everywhere.
Even the Czech Special Forces use the Glock 17 as their carry pistol.

CZ is metal if you prefer that over plastic. CZ has an external safety and a hammer if you prefer that set up.

Both are great guns and will get the job done.

Ok, let me rub my crystal ball here. Eureka, I have the answer.
My crystal ball predicts the following.

Glock Fanbois say:

Glock offers standard, easy to find and cheap mags.
Lighter than CZ.
Consistent trigger pull for all shots.
Uber reliable.
Glock feels like grabbing a 2x4
Glocks used by cops and other LEO agencies around the U.S.

CZ fanbois say:

CZ has a soul whereas Glocks are soulless.
CZ has smoother trigger.
Possibly more accurate.
Much better looking gun.
CZ used by LEOs around the globe.

How's the crystal ball doin today guys?

I know what your getting at but to be honest I have never seen a CZ in any LEO's holster, except in the Czech Republic. ;)

I have a CZ75-b. It's much more enjoyable to shoot than any Glock I own. It's lovelier to behold as well. For me personally, I don't carry it because I'm short, it's heavy, and hard to conceal well. But it's a GREAT pistol.

A Glock is a great tool for the job and will serve range toy/carry duties well.

If you make the mistake of shooting a few boxes of ammo through the CZ - it will be hard to want to not keep shooting it :)

Both are great guns and if the crazy grip angle on the glock doesn't bother you then it is about 50%/50% as they both have there pro's and con's.

I would say hold them both as they are very different in weight and fell.

I would suggest that the CZs you might consider in comparison to the Glock 19 are the PO1 (with light rail):

or the PCR Compact (without rail):

The basic 75s & 85s are full sized duty pistols and considerably larger than the 19; the analogues to the Compact Model 19 are the PO1 & PCR

Not much more to add here. I think this post hits the nail on the head.

Just choose whichever feels best in your hands. CZ's and Glock's are both excellent. I own both and like them all for what they are.

I gotta say I love the feel of the CZ 75 Compact, that said I do carry a Glock 19. For me it came down to affordability, where I was living at the time there was almost a $200 difference, don't understand why. If I get the chance to trade or buy another, personally it would be the CZ 75 Compact. Weight feels more balanced, grip is more natural - for me at least - and I have come to realize I need an all metal auto-loader. :D

Do you think the grip screws are interchangable? That should help with parts support. ;)

I have both the CZ 75b and the Glock 26 and I don't think you can go wrong with either. If you are looking to use it for CCW purposes, I think I'd opt for Glock 19 (or even the 26 if it floats your boat). Yes, you can CCW the CZ but the full size 75 feels exactly like a full size metal pistol... Big and heavy.

The crystal ball is severe clear today. I would like to add one to the CZ fan-boys list though.

If you must get a polymer gun, look at the Styer M9.

Marb4, have you ever read Gun Tests magazine? There is a test from last year that put the Glock 19 vs. the CZ75D PCR Compact vs. the Springfield Armory XDM 3.8 vs. the Ruger SR9C.

All four guns got an A- rating which is outstanding coming from Gun Tests.
The CZ - http://www.gunreports.com/gow/handguns/cz-usa-75d-9mm-handgun-91194-pcr_2646-1.html
The Glock - http://www.gunreports.com/gow/handguns/Glock-Model-19-9mm-subcompact-micro-guns_2546-1.html

I can't locate the other two tests. I probably need to renew my subscription.

Personally, I own the G19 sized G36 and the CZ75D PCR. I like them both for different reasons.

The Pros for me on each type are . . .

CZ compact
- Classic metal gun
- Hammer fired DA/SA
- Due to single action capability, a better trigger
- Can be had with a decocker or with a manual safety depending on model
- Can be had with an alloy frame or a steel frame depending on model
- The grips can be changed out for something better to look at or to fit your hand differently
- The grip frame and standard grips feel like I paid a custom gun maker to make this gun
- Shoots accurately to point of aim

Glock compact
- I won't cry if I scratch it or mark it up
- Doesn't have a manual safety
- Sights are easier to change out
- Easier to work on if changing out internal parts
- Parts are easier to find
- Easier take down for cleaning
- Lighter weight
- Shoots accurately to point of aim

IMO, both pistols are great self defense guns, but I think the CZ makes a better range gun and therefore a better multi-tasker than the Glock.

Here's some pics for size differences. The G19 would be a bit taller than the G36, but similar in all other dimensions except caliber and capacity.

How bout a compromise...shall we?

CZ Phantom.

CZ design with a polymer frame. That way you get the nice light weight of a glock, but the performance of a CZ.

And for the record, I love my CZ phantom.

If its any help,

My brother has the SP-01 Phantom and I have to say, It is a great gun. Accurate and fun to shoot. 500-600 rounds in it and NOT ONE PROBLEM. The only problem I ever had was that the factory ammunition was damaged to begin with. It was WWB 100 rounds.

I never tried a Glock....So I can't comment on it. I do love the hammer set up....

Well, if y'all go poly frame on the CZ the P07 Duty is compact sized, but I have no experience with it.

Exactly. If you are going to compare compact to compact with a gun like the G19 you MUST include the P-07 which is CZ's Glock killer. In addition to the lightweight alloy PCR and P-01 compacts it seems like a winner.

Why people think the 75B is the only gun CZ makes, and want to compare it to polymer for carry weight is beyond me. Right Michael 2112? :)

I actually have an on going thread about the P-07. It started out with various questions. I have turned it in to my journal for the first 500 rounds. At the rate I'm going the thread may be open untill next July.

Check out the thread and you can see how mine is going.

I believe there is somebody selling one in the classified section. If I remember correctly the asking price is $375 shipped.

I think the CZ P-01, as opposed to the 75, is more comparable to the G19 as far as size. I have a G19 and a P-01 and think both are great mid-size 9mms. I use the G19 as my primary CCW because it's lighter, but truthfully I enjoy shooting the P-01 more.

Flip a quarter, get one and put the other on lay-away. :)

I like both. It comes down to which one you can shoot better with.

Glock feels like grabbing a 2x4

I hear that often. It simply isn't true with the 19 to many people, myself included. To me a 19 just feels "right" when I run it. My 12 year old son can run it just fine, also. If he can run some easy dynamic drills (he sees dad do it, so he has to try) and manage reloads, it can't be that awful of a grip. :) I'll always have a 1911 and a glock 19 in my safe or on me. If my belongings were destroyed tomorrow and I won the lottery at the same time, the first firearm I'd buy would be a 19...%100 without a doubt. Okay I'd likely point at the counter and say "this one," meaning the entire display case...but I would be leaving the store with a new 19 on my hip and a u-haul-turned-arsenal. :)

Unfortunately many other guns "feel just right", too. My 19 and my trusty buckmark come along for every shooting session. It is all subjective to the individual IMHO. Glocks seem to be universally displeasing on forums for their grip angle (I found it to not be an issue at all after actually running it a couple of times...it was only an issue when I fondled it in the store and ran some slow fire rounds through it standing in a firing line) and their "soullessness." Just buy and shoot whatever keeps you happy and shooting and don't worry about what we think of your choice.
