... these three would make a really nice set. I thought I was done buying Kimbers but I really like these Super Carry models. Are they new models? They all come in my favorite configuration which is stainless steel frames and slides with a coating over the stainless. OK ... they're full of MIM and Kimber can be hit and miss if you believe the "experts" on the internet ... but I like 'em and I know how to make Kimbers run well. Does anyone own one of these models? Anyway, these Kimbers appeal to me on a level that's hard to explain so I won't even try.

Looks like the spring stop pin, not a ILS....As for the Kimber it looks great

1911's are almost always photographed with the hammer back and safety on. Funny that in this case, the hammer is down.

That Pro HD would be one heck of a nice gun. Very nice.

Super Carry Ultra has my name on it! I plan on shooting that one and carrying my Ultra CDPII. Just a matter of time... and $$. I guess a guy might need a Super Carry Pro HD also...

I don't hate Kimbers. I own one, shoot it a lot, and haven't had any problems with it. Are there better guns out there for the money? Probably. If I knew what I know now, would I have bought a Kimber? Probably not. However, my Kimber has never given me any functionality problems, and has been more than accurate enough for me. I'm satisfied.

Great looking guns! I really like my Raptor and it is one of the absolute best guns I own. I would like to try one of those out for concealed carry.

Those are beautiful guns, and I just might have to get a custom HD to go along with my other 3 Kimbers.

DUH!! That's what I get for copying, pasting, cutting and uploading images and making a post in the early hours of the morning .... ... and being excited at the thought of lusting after another 1911.

Me too!! I have a 4" Stainless Pro Raptor II and a 5" Tactical Entry II and I'm very happy with both. I've wanted a 3" all steel 1911 but as far as I'm aware, there aren't a lot of all steel/stainless steel 3" 1911s out there. I can see a Super Carry Ultra HD in my future, and maybe the Super Carry Pro HD too.

Knowing what I know now I still like Kimbers. I like the fact that there's room for me to upgrade them, lots of room in fact. I enjoy the feeling of having a Kimber that's 100% reliable with a variety of ammunition and will continue to be reliable for many, many thousands of rounds, mainly because they aren't supposed to be that way. It's kind of like rooting for the underdog if that makes any sense. I have Ed Browns and Dan Wessons and they're expected to be perfect from day one, but if they're not, that's a whole world of disappointment waiting for someone. If you buy a Kimber and believe that they're an overpriced POS, then it's only up from there since they can only exceed your expectations. Hopefully that makes sense to someone ... it does to me.

Regardless of all of that, these three Kimbers are really attractive 1911s with some desirable features but they aren't cheap. There are many good (better) alternatives to the SCP and SCC but I'm not so sure about the Super Carry Ultra. I would definitely replace the grip safety with Kimber's tactical bump safety, replace all the MIM with Ed Brown stuff, get rid of the ambi thumb safety, replace the trigger and file/polish the lower barrel lugs if there's any sign of barrel bump ... about $300 worth of upgrades and a few hours of work, but worth it to me.

I wonder if the MSH is plastic or steel. Does anyone own one?

I belive the MSH on the bobbed models is metal. I think plastic can't handle being bobbed, not enough room/material.

Hmmm ... good point and good news if that's the case. I was really amazed by the overall quality of the Raptor that I bought a few months ago. Supposedly, Kimber doesn't have a real custom shop like Springfield. Their "Custom Shop" may be nothing more than a nice lady with an eye for detail who takes an extra minute or two on the assembly line to find a slide, frame and barrel that actually fit together fairly well :D . However they do it, the "Custom Shop" guns seem to be assembled with more attention to detail based on my sample size of two!! The Raptor slide to frame fit and the barrel fit were surprisingly good. If the Super Carry models are like that I'll be very pleased.

No hate here.
I have owned eight Kimbers so far (still have five). I carry one every day and shoot it once a week.

No I don't hate Kimbers. They are my number one carry choice.

I have five. The only reason I don't have six is I haven't seen another one that I want.

Any of you that own or have owned a Kimber with an "officer sized" frame such as the Super Carry Ultra above, any issues with the shorter grip? Are they dimensionally the same as a Colt Officer frame? My middle, ring and pinkie fingers fill up the standard grip perfectly so I'm wondering if my pinkie would be in no man's land with an officer grip. I realize that I could use magazines with a bumper pad on the base if necessary but was just wondering.

I sort of made a Super Carry Pro HD by bobbing the frame of my Raptor and adding an Ed Brown stainless steel MSH. Once I paint it, it'd basically be a SCP ... only better.

^ I don't hate them. I got a dud, as have a pretty significant number of other people.

And not everyone who reports problems with a Kimber firearm is a keyboard commando spinning fantasy on the interwebs.

However, I think there are better guns out there with more features built with better materials to better tolerances for the same amount of money than a Kimber.

That said, if you have a Kimber that functions well and you hit where you aim with it, awesome opossum.

Please tell us which guns those would be.

I have a few Springfield Armory 1911s ... cost about the same as some of my Kimbers, but with fewer features (e.g., frontstrap checking) and not fit to tolerances as tight and smooth as the Kimbers ... Colt's? Really? Last two I bought new (a Series 70 repro in stainless and an "enhanced" LW Commander) had serious issues. At this point, I'm trusting Kimber's QA over Colt's, although I'll definitely give SA the nod as far as customer service.

Maybe not as much now but as recent as a couple of years ago Dan Wesson was giving a lot more for less than a Mimber, now they give a lot more for a little more or the same. Springfield makes a lot more durable gun IMO so I'll pass on the front strap checkering if needed.

They are good looking guns especially these ones but every Kimber I have owned or been around as they get higher in round count start hemoraging parts. MIM just doesn't seem to hold up on long term high use guns & life's too short for safe queens.

I've been taking my old 2003 Kimber BP Pro Ten II to the range on a regular basis for over 2 years. The only problem I've had is when I tried to fire 50 rounds of cheap Russian ammo (Aquila) down range . The slide didn't completely close after 40+ rounds. I ran a snake through it twice and fired the rest. I just wanted to see if I could get 50 rounds through it as fast as possible without a problem and I don't think there would have been one if I'd used quality ammo. The old gun is getting that well used look because I use an open belt slide Tagua holster and I carry it about 50% of the time when I'm not in the mood for the G 23 or 26. I'm also a much better shot with the Kimber. I understand lots of people won't believe this but I can get the Kimber on target and keep it there better than I can the G 23. I like Kimbers a lot. I've fired several. I just can't afford them. I'd have to actually save up $$ and that's hard to do when you have a gun addiction as serious as mine has become.
