This has grated on me for a while now, someone asked in another thread can you hunt with a bow during the modern firearm portion of deer season. Well in Missouri (NO YOU CANNOT)

take for a deer to die from a certain caliber, or bow shot? There are so many variables
and conditions that determin the time it takes them to drop. The goal is to kill it so it
can be consumed.

Please Read This !

CSR 10-7.432 Deer: Archery Hunting
Season
PURPOSE: This rule establishes the archery
deer hunting season, limits, and provisions
for hunting.
(1) The archery deer hunting season is September
15 through January 15, excluding the
November portion of the firearms deer hunting
season. Use archery methods only;

Straight from the book.

It says you can hunt deer from Sept.15 to Jan.15 with a bow (excluding the
November portion of the firearms deer hunting
season.)

If that is not plain English I am stupid.

OK I am done !

Guess you should read more then...

Taken from the Game Regs page for Missouri in the FIREARMS section

Methods allowed
Methods allowed during all portions of the firearms deer season, except the muzzleloader portion.
Centerfire pistol, revolver or rifle using expanding-type bullets. Legal ammunition includes lead bullets, copper bullets and bullets made of other material designed to expand.
Shotgun (including .410) with slugs only
Air-powered gun, .40 caliber or larger, charged only from an external high compression power source (external hand pump, air tank, or air compressor)
A muzzleloading or cap-and-ball firearm .40 caliber or larger and capable of firing only a single projectile at one discharge; in-lines and scopes are allowed
Multiple-barreled muzzleloading or cap-and-ball firearms and/or muzzleloading or cap-and-ball handguns, including revolvers, .40 caliber or larger are allowed and may be carried in addition to a muzzleloading or cap-and-ball rifle
A longbow, compound bow or recurve bow of any draw weight; hand-held string releasing devices, illuminated sights, scopes and quick point sights are allowed
Crossbow

Atlatl, which is defined as a rod or narrow board-like device used to launch, through a throwing motion of the arm, a dart 5 to 8 feet in length.

Nope not stupid, just didn't read far enough.

So you can`t use a Bow during the muzzle loader portion ?

OK I will be the first to admit when I am wrong, OK what does this mean ?

The archery deer hunting season is September

November portion of the firearms deer hunting

Well I found out what it means.
I broke down & called a department of conservation agent.
If you hunt with a Bow during the Firearms Portion, you hunt on a Firearms Tag not a Archery Tag.

So I was wrong, you can hunt with a bow during firearms portion, but like Ryan said, why would you want to be out there with a bow with all them guys with guns.

In some places I would totally agree with that statement. But not in all states and not all areas. If I had land close to some public land I would be more than happy to bow hunt it. Reason being, those deer are going to get pushed hard from the multitude of hunters into areas they feel safe. Such as somewhere that they don't hear gunfire coming from. And since they won't hear my bow, the remaining deer would still feel safe and un-pressured and would hopefully tend to stay on my land.

Some "askers" are to lazy to look up information. Sad.
Based on that logic, there's no excuse for asking any question, ever. Pretty much anything can be found with enough research.

Then again, some people may not know where to look. There's no reason to assume that anyone who asks a question is lazy.

Wait....

You can use an atlatl in MO?!?! That's just plain awesome.

FYI, in Florida you can use lesser weapons during the greater weapon season, ie, you can use your bow through archery, muzzleloader and general gun and you can use your muzzleloader through general gun.

The only gotcha is that you have to that season's stamp. If I use my bow through muzzleloader season, I have to have the muzzleloader stamp on my license.
