What gun conversations/threads do you not engage in? Not trying to be ironic.

IMO they all become a little redundant, however some people use forums for social reasons, and others use it for info. gathering and opinions from other people already familiar with the hobby. Someone who has done research on their own but really wants to know what the masses think about the differences between a .9X19mm, .40 S&W, or .45ACP will appreciate that info. and use it to make their choice if they are in the market to buy. Same goes with what type of guns are better than others, even though most modern well est. gun makers all make good quality firearms someone in the market are going to want to hear what other people have to say in order to make the decision to either save some money and buy now, or wait and save a little for the more expensive choice, either way for some of these people buying a gun can be a little frightening for many reasons including the financial investment they are going to make. I don't really let the redundancy bother me too much, I am a little tired of the "Zombie" stuff though.

I don't get involved with talks about the NRA. They're the largest lobby, yes, and are in the best position to help our cause, yes. However, I'm frequently sorely disappointed in them and have yet to join them (though I'm involved in other organizations). I don't get involved because either way there is a crowd that views me as a sellout or a traitor.

Also, threads/discussions about gun mechanics, ie, gunsmithing. Too much technical language for me to understand (without the gun in question in front of me), and not enough experience to offer much even if I did completely understand.

Zombies. I never dug the concept but I would jump in and say "what's with the zombie business, you know they're not real right?" Never helps, it's getting bigger, I now no longer comment on zombie threads.

Zombies are a euphemism.

Zombies are a euphemism.

People keep saying that, but I don't know anyone IRL who actually uses Zombies as a euphemism. the people I know, use it as an excuse to buy guns and goodies and shoot at fun targets.

AR vs AK - They are both good, use the one you like best.
Brand X pistol vs Brand y pistol - they all have the pluses and minuses.
Which brand of AR ( or AK ) should I buy - I don't know, what are you going to use it for?
My brand Q AR clone is just as good as - I doubt it and you can't prove it.
I just bought a whatever, did I get a good deal? - if you have to ask you already know you got the sandpaper HJ.
Caliber wars - nuff said
Birdshot for home defense
Waxed Birdshot or whatever the new InternetCommando wonder load is - if the crap you are pushing worked and was safe the major manufacturers would be pumping this stuff out.

Same thing happened to me when I started a thread complaining about their marketing tactics. I even got some PMs saying the same thing the other posters said after the thread was locked.

A zombie is an assailant that cannot be reasoned with and wants nothing more than to kill you. While "zombies" might not be real, that is a real scenario, and pretty much sums up the need for self defense - some people can't be reasoned with. The zombie apocalypes is a fear based on the horde mentality, from Atilla the Hun to the Nazis. Yes, I brought nazis into the argument (but this is based on an episode on the History Channel about zombies).

Forindooruse, good point. I "built" a computer. My friend has actually built a processor.

There's actually a lot of threads that I don't do, either here on THR or elsewhere.

I don't do the collector vs. shooter threads.

I don't do the tactical loadout threads - I couldn't care less what you are carrying and how much junk you're hauling around with ya in your wheelbarrow.

I don't do bear/mountain lion/alligator/wild dingo threads.

I don't do caliber wars.

I don't do which is the best gun threads.

I absolutely don't do anything with the word "bugout", or any EOTHW and SHTF threads.

I don't do Zombie threads.

I don't do AR Build threads. You didn't build it. You assembled it.

I don't do threads made specifically to bash a gun, product, company, ect.

And anything else that annoys, bores, or otherwise fails to hold my attention.

Sounds like you can only do the "What threads I won't post in" threads.

Ironic, ain't it!

Anyone go to a gun club/range where debates are settled on the spot?

Like guys are hanging out arguing about how lousy the recoil is on "gun X" and everyone takes a turn firing and developing an opinion based on experience?

I try to only speak on what I know from direct experience and remain silent on many subjects. If it's something that's considered a general truth, I'll chime in such as "Are Ruger revolvers better made than Rossi?" although I haven't owned either I'd state "yes, Ruger is generally considered a better made gun than a Rossi". But I won't argue about 10mm being the ultimate man stopper (never shot one let alone stopped a man with one) and things of that order.

IDPA, training, technique, holsters, sights, carry techniques. That's my thing now.

I also refuse to participate in any thread where the term "sexy" is used to describe a gun in the title, or used in the OP. :barf: A person you find attractive is "sexy" not a gun. It's like calling a tool sexy!

"Look I got this new Brand X power drill. Isn't it cool?" :)

"Yeah.... it's alright, but my Dewalt is sexy." :scrutiny:

Wha????? IMO, it just sounds lame.

So :neener: to all the "sexy" gun owners out there.

I of course I mean this in a totally respectful and non-code of conduct breaking sort of way. It's JMO. If you think your gun is "sexy"........ well enjoy your thread I guess. I won't.

Buying/building/which new AR15 threads. That horse has been beat so far into the ground I could see china through the hole. Use the search function and google please. Also whatever you were trying to do it's in no way original so stop thinking it is.
-rant over.

Oh, I forgot, I also avoid anything about a Mossy, Winnie, Remmy, shotty, snubby, or any other cutesy name.

I don't avoid Mossberg, Winchester, Remington, Shotgun, or snub-nose revolver threads.

I stay from just about anything where the title doesn’t interest me.

I ESPECIALLY look, but don’t enter into post up pics of your guns. I just think posting what you have, whether in pictures, or in text in your signature can just be asking for trouble.

Chris

Well, the CDC did use a zombie pockylips as an example of how to prepare for an outbreak.... The black plague maybe?

The biggest question has not been asked yet (or I missed it):

If nobody comments on all those types of threads.... Who is?
I think it's some kind of conspiracy and which one of ya'll stole my tin foil hat!?!?

Eh, I don't discuss even the discussion of "zombies". Yuck x 10.

Anyone looking at IWB holsters though...check out the White Hat. Had mine for about a week and have carried more than I ever have before.

Watch your lane.

I won't play the "if you could only have one gun" game. Or two, or five, or 99.

My very first thought! :D

Also...

Bear threads
"Be reasonable with antis" threads
Most AR threads
Most 9mm vs .45 threads (Though I have been known to interject that most nines are easier to fit in a purse! :D)
"Train like you fight!" threads
Most semiauto vs revolver threads

Notice I usually say "most." Sometimes I just can't help myself. ;)

Any threads where someone says my opinion is wrong. In my opinion, my opinion is always right. That's just my opinion.

Gotta add one.

"Apples & oranges" threads.

"Glock (or any other polymer striker fired pistol) vs 1911."

Merely shows that either the poster has done zero homework & has no clue...

...or it's a troll...:barf:
