I use paypal because its a quick and easy method of payment for internet transactions.

If I refused to do business with every establishment that was anti-gun in any way, I doubt that I would ever get any project accomplished.

Don't have one, don't need one and as of yet, have not needed one.

Ron
Just as a clarification of my initial post. My not having a pay pal account has nothing at all to do with the pro-gun or anti-gun politics that seem to have surfaced. I simply, in my case, have never had the need for a pay pal account so therefore I don't have one. My little vote was based solely on that.

PayPal

Yeah I use paypal and I know they are anti 2A, but for all you who say "Oh well use a Postal MO instead" isn't the Postal Service anti 2A as well? I seem to recall not being able to legally carry a firearm on their property.

Over 60 views and two takers? I'm sure some of you see what this is:) and shame on the rest for looking and proclaiming lazy is better than free.
How far are you willing to take your statement? Do you use the USPS, FEDEX, UPS? They ALL have policies that prevent some shipments of firearms that would otherwise be perfectly legal.

How many big chain stores may allow customers to carry firearms in their stores, but prohibit their employees from protection?

And is an "out of sight, out of mind" policy good enough for you? How many retail chains actually have big corporate anti-gun policies that just simply aren't posted so as long as you conceal they won't say anything about it?

For that matter, you live in Oregon. If you really want to boycott everything anti-gun, why don't you boycott Oregon and move to a Constitutional Carry state like Arizona, Vermont or Alaska?

Before you throw stones, I would suggest you examine whether or not you are living in a glass house.

Yeah I have one, I use it occaisionally. It accounts for <1% of my spending, but I do use it once in awhile. It's a free country and they can conduct their business how they want. I'm still going to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings a couple times a year as well. Just because they have diffferent views as me doesn't mean they don't offer a service that I utilize.

If I refused to do business with every establishment that was anti-gun in any way, I doubt that I would ever get any project accomplished.

That's the way I look at it.

2 times a week I get scam emails for using paypal in My airbrushing Business from few years ago...on 4 different occascions I 've had attempts to hack My Money from my account ..for that reason alone I DO NOT USE Paypal If You do ya better not keep over $4 in Your account..plus They are indeed anti gun and The Biggest Reason, The Government is deep into the world of Pay Pal and Their Sales...

It's been noted already, but I'll add my.02.

I have a PayPal account because I had to have it to sell on ebay.

I do not limit myself to doing business only with companies that are gun friendly, and in spite of many declaring to the contrary, neither does anyone else on THR. You may think you do, but if we were to examine all your buying patterns, soup to nuts, we'd find you doing business with companies and people who are anti gun.

As as been noted, you can't get anything done in this country or any other without some sort of business connection to someone who's anti gun.

Prove I'm wrong? Anybody?

Used to have one. It was convenient for the time. No longer have one. A note of irony, my biggest (most expensive) gun purchase ever was done via PayPal.
That's all I'll say.......

I use ebay every now and then, and of course the preferred payment is paypal.
My old stereo (yamaha) amp bailed on me this morning.
I went to ebay and found almost the same unit used for $69.
Inside of A minute, I found what I wanted and had it paid for.
Ships tomorrow.

Anti-gun or not, ya just can't beat that.:D

I suppose I should boycott them though, because I smoke, and well, you can't sell cigarettes or tobacco related items there either.
As a matter of fact, I should boycott every business that doesn't operate or believe the same as me.

I joined the Tennessee Firearms Assn. last month. My paypal account was set up automatically. They will bill through paypal every year.

I do have a Paypal account. But I don't want it. Ever since the eBay/Paypal merger their entire process has gone downhill. Money transfers are slow for selling on eBay because you have to wait for something you sold to reach the buyer. It is a poison pill for me because it is the most *popular* way to transfer money. Even though there are better services, just less common ones.

I have one but don't use it any more. No option for that in the poll. I sold my camera to somebody who apparently stole a credit card. After I had the money in my bank and it was verified by Paypal, I sent the camera off. A couple days later, Paypal informed me that that the card was stolen and I had to give back the money....lol. Of course no camera would be returned because the thief was long gone. Sorry Paypal, you made the mistake of allowing the process of transfer to go through. They put my Paypal account in the negative to "try" and recoup the money from me for their mistake. Now I just steer clear of Ebay and Paypal all together. Not worth the trouble of saving a couple bucks. Selling is all done through Craigslist now.

NEVER TRUST PAYPAL. Read the horror stories posted online and you will never deal with that company again.

I never buy from anyone who doesn't have hundreds of transactions under their belt, and 99-100% positive feedback.

I've had zero problems.

I would never purchase anything there for an amount that I'd be afraid to lose though.

I would like to first say thanks for the feedback from you fellas, I see some of the points and understand most. Sorry if I ruffled feathers, as the topic said "simple question for ya" and heaven forbid I asked about paypal and used a poll:) just curious is all.

I was just trying to get a feeler on where the majority of "us" gun owners stand on a very common everyday consumer service. I don't plan to whine about every anti gun co. It's just I suspected paypal was widely used and I guess I was correct. I have educated several folks to the actual company policy when it comes to firearms related stuff and I feel pretty good about that. I have to say though the idea of defeating the system by using it to still purchase guns & gun parts just to stick it to them is funny. They get money and we get..... Easy purchasing power.

hso, I thank you for posting the company policy to clear up any misinformation that might be floating around ;) good on ya.

Feel free to close this thread as I'm sure we are done.

I resent being called a lazy American because I use a paypal account. I am very active with my local, state and recently federal government. I am active at my gun club and I fight for our rights in one way or another everyday.

I am certain all of you high and mighty that dont use paypal support plenty of companies that have gun related policies and if you dont your either a hermit or stupid. Hermits dont use the Internet.

I have a Paypal account. I use it about once a year. It's too much trouble to close it. Maybe I'll need to donate money to someone in the gun community again this year.

I don't give a hoot about what anybody thinks about me having a Paypal account.

John

I'm just another "lazy American" who works a full time engineering job and has TWO side businesses. If I weren't so lazy, I guess I'd have seven jobs...but I'm lazy. ;)
Anyway, since this is 2013; I accept PayPal payments for my side businesses...rather than barter for chickens over the internet.
Over the past 12 years I have bought many guns and a whole lot of ammo with using my PayPal account.....via the MasterCard debit card linked to my PayPal account.
That card is issued by a bank, not by PayPal/eBay....said bank has no restrictions on gun purchases. My favorite local gun shop and I have a good chuckle over this every time I buy another gun.

I did have an account. I just closed it. Here is what I told them for a reason why I closed it....

LNK

"Paypal service was excellent, never had a problem. Only recently found out paypal is an anti gun company and will seek out an alternative company to do business with. Your company has chosen its customer base, and I am clearly not in it. I only wish I knew your stance before using your service. "

I have a PayPal account and use it, primarily, for when I have to source a compter-related component from eBay ... and it is also very handy for making contributions to some gun-related Forums (most recently Milsurps.com). I will also use it, sometimes, for one-off purchases at websites where I would rather play it safe and not provide credit card info ... did that last night, as a matter of fact.

When my sister finally retires in June, I am going to help her setup eBay & PayPal accounts so that she can sell a lot of her accumulated "treasures". She has been talking about it and looking forward to this for years.

If a reliable, well-accepted competitor service were available, I would switch, but ... <shrug>

I think that JohnBT said it well:
I don't give a hoot about what anybody thinks about me having a Paypal account.

I also have been wearing Levis 501s for several decades and will continue to do so.

Every story I've read (many from consumerist) leads me to believe they are a pretty bad company. I'm all set.
