... or lie about the transaction to transfer money without fees.

I guess you should work for free too? They provide a service and deserve their fees to earn income. Why do people feel this is wrong? Cheating them out of their fees is no different than stealing. We all end up paying for it.

what I'm saying is if I have any choice to perform a transaction without funding an anti-gun organization I'll do so. you only end up "paying for it" if you decide you want to use their services.

I would like to clear the air with the "silly lazy Americans" comment that I made. I put it in such a context to reinforce a belief that I have. I feel if a person chose a easy wrong over a hard right They a simply a lazy person. It was never directed at any individuals just folks who financially support a anti company because of the ease of service. I am sorry It offended the paypal users but I stand by my statement.

Mcdonl, you seem to be very upset at me and I would like to make amends but with directly calling me stupid I'm guessing it won't happen. and no I'm not a hermit so.....

Jfthegr8, I will not disclose all of my expenditures and such and I didn't expect you to do the same. Having said that, chances are they are more pro gun than most as I'm a conscious consumer and I try to keep informed.

Sorry BP. I was out of line.

I will point out thought that the only things I buy online are shooting related and if I buy from a place that takes Paypal I use it. So, though they do not want to get involved with the messy business of interstate gun sales I spend a lot of money on gun and shooting related products through PayPal.

I find it very annoying that they are anti gun, but I have an account, and will continue to use it, albeit regrettably, until such time as a viable alternative exists.

When someone starts an equivalent service, that is not anti, I will happily move to them, and discontinue use of paypal. Until such time as that happens, I am effectively without a choice in the matter. Not conducting business is not an acceptable alternative. Nor is payment by means which gives me no recourse if seller/buyer does not fulfill their obligation.

Beersleeper, I understand fully... And as soon as Copenhagen makes a non-carcinogenic snuff I will switch also:eek: (three weeks clean) I'm just as guilty for using something that's easy, as I have chewed cope snuff for over 10 yrs. When they offer a non cancerous formula I will jump all over It though:)

Mcdonl, no hard feelings as I'm the one who wanted to know who supported PAYPAL and I didn't go about it in a tactful way, I just asked openly and upfront which I guess is frowned upon and I understand why now.

I opened the can of worms and have %50 support for gun rights from a gun forum:D thought it would be higher in a gun forum. Looks like we fight hard as long as the fight is easy.... Just saying. the lazy man will prevail untill we have to work for a living in the ol' u,s of a. I hate sending out money orders but I feel it's the lesser evil.

How do you figure that 50% figure has anything at all to do with supporting gun rights? Or any figure. I suppose if you hate Paypal enough and it makes you feel like you're really doing something for gun rights then it's worth patting yourself on the back for your actions. I just don't get all this feel good stuff that doesn't affect how the lawmakers vote or the judges rule.

I'd be curious to know who holds your mortgage.
I'd be curious of where you do your banking.
I'd be curious of where you buy your groceries.
I'd be curious of where you buy your electronics.
I'd be curious of where you buy your hardware.
I'm curious of how you do your taxes.
I'd be curious if your employer supports the 2nd amendment.
Most insurance companies are anti-gun. Where are you insured?
Most health care plans are anti-gun. Who holds your health insurance?
I can go on but you get the point.
I'm glad you feel good because you don't like Pay Pal but to be a true "rebel" you need to go all in and cut your ties with any organization that even hints of gun intolerance. The lazy way? Hardly. It's doing commerce with a wide range of businesses who have their own policies. Some are pro-gun but a lot more are not gun friendly. Some are anti-gun and some are not pro-gun but are gun neutral. I'd bet we use a lot more of those type businesses than pro-gun businesses when you are talking about consuming outside the needs related to firearms.

Business owners regardless of whether they are conservative or liberal are there to MAKE A PROFIT, If you actually believe that a business owner cares about anything other that the profit margin, you have found an exception to the rule.

I have had a paypal account for many years because it is the safest way for me to make sure I get paid for an item I may sell. If a person chooses not to use paypal, I will be more than happy to accept a Postal Money order but will refuse to accept Western Union, my reasoning is that Western Union money orders can be voided.

If that makes me anti-gun, then so be it.. but in my eyes, anyone who feels that I am not allowed the very same CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS that they DEMAND is ANTI AMERICAN and therefore also NOT a RESPONSIBLE GUN OWNER!!!!!!!!

From a liability standpoint, I actually can't blame Paypal for their policies regarding firearms.

US gun laws are incredibly convoluted and diverse, varying by state and sometimes by municipality. No business want to inadvertently facilitate an illegal transaction and end up in court, criminal or civil.

Has any higher up at Paypal gone on record espousing anti-gun views?

Well, you asked, and I do have an account. Why? Primarily to send/receive money from people that are multiple states away, it's considerably more convenient than the USPS.

And no, I don't 'support' the company any more than I support my local grocery store, however if I didn't use anti gun companies, I'd probably have trouble finding clothing that I like and can afford, wouldn't have an education (I'm willing to bet most of my textbooks are published by companies that might be considered anti gun) likely would have to pay more for food to find somewhere that doesn't have any anti 2a policies, and so on and so forth.

Frankly, I can't AFFORD not to use them, and even if I could, it's insane to think we can completely avoid these companies. I do what I can, where I can, but don't expect me to commit myself to undue hardship that won't serve any tangible benefit just for the sake of symbolism.
