How much do you shoot now?

Less, but still some. Shooting a lot more 8mm, 30.06 etc. Less 223, 7.62x39 22lr ect.

It is still winter so out side so very little other than air pistol. I hope to shoot more than last year, my weekends off always lined up with rainy weather.

I'm set for ammo and components, just need time off and good weather at the same time.

I've got plenty of ammo...and plenty of components...but I've hardly been shooting at all lately. It might be just not wanting to burn up supplies due to uncertainty about re-supply...but I've not been to the range in months and have no plans to go in the near future.

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of reloading? I heard someone say that you reload to shoot more, not necessarily to save money.

I don't reload and don't have thousands of rounds of ammo stocked up, but I still shoot at least once a week. I've shot more now even during the ammo famine than I have in the last couple of years when amm is plentiful. I keep a small minimum amount of ammo per caliber (maybe 600rds per gun) and re-supply what I shoot.

I don't know why some people would get into reloading if they don't shoot their own reloads to begin with. I plan to get into reloading this year when things calm down again. Reloading components will probably come back in good supply eventually.

Haven't shot much due to the weather, but as it turns I will still be restricted due to depleting of my ammo stock last fall and failing to re-stock before it was too late.

However, I do have a flintlock long rifle, have a cap lock Kentucky pistol ordered, and plan on picking up a .22 caliber air rifle to make do until the ammunition situation stabilizes.

I shoot maybe 10% of what I would normally do.

I went whistle pig shooting over the weekend. I shot 12 rounds of .223, 10 confirmed kills. Last year I easily shot 200 on a trip. Lots more looking, a lot less shooting. I have been shooting a cap and ball revolver more than anything since December. Using home made black powder and my own cast balls. Now percussion caps are getting hard to find.

Finally being fully retired now, at least 3 times a week.

Whenever my stock of ammo gets past a certain point

This year i will shoot 10-13 thousand rounds of centerfire pistol and rifle ammunition, mostly reloads. Will also fire 2-3 thousand rounds of .22 LR and .22 magnum.

I am in reset mode right now. Getting all my reloading set and done. Then its off to the range. Still its going to be less then I normaly wouild due to resupply issues. Its sort of hard to fire off a mag of ammo that may cost you a buck a round to replace.

Virtually not at all anymore. Down to less than 1500 rounds of ammo overall, about half of which is rimfire.

But, will be stepping up airgun shooting again in the near future. I do have one nice air carbine and a pistol that are good for trigger time, and may acquire at least one more.

Same as usual...once or twice a month. My range is 45 minutes away and I work 45-50 hours a week...who has time?

every thursday bullseye, and sundays outside as long as the weather is decent. plan on shooting tons this year.

More than I need to-less than I want to.

I'm shooting less than last year, but last year was exceptionally busy - I was transitioning from 1911s and revolvers to Glocks in 9 and .45, so I was shooting often and in volume. I stocked up in December, and I've still got over 1K in .45acp, 2k in 9mm, and 3k in .22lr, and plenty of CF rifle for as little as I shoot those.

Time has been a factor, but I've also been wary of shooting all I have.

Not much at all. Now have less than 2000 rnds and 650 of that is .22LR. (not counting SD carry loads that I can't afford to shoot) Only other rnd I have enough to last more than 1-2 trips to the range is .45acp. And maybe 7.62 X .25 and I have yet to fire that 45-50 yr. old Yugoslavian bomb. Another impulse buy I may be sorry for.

What is this shooting you speak of? Everyone knows firearms are purchased for the sheer joy of wall hangers and safe queens.

I shoot very little at the moment. Would love to try some IDPA this year if ammo comes back around. Likely I'll be spending the summer practicing with my bow and crossbow.

My shooting has been cut back from 5-6 days and evenings a week, to just a couple evenings (laser low light/dark shooting with a Crimson Trace laser equipped Ruger SR22, from the hip).


The problem has nothing to do with ammo availability, I have plenty. Actually, in the last couple months I gave friends and new shooters over 5,000 rounds of 22LR, handgun and rifle ammo free.

Last year I tore both my shoulders. The recovery from torn shoulders, rotator cuff tears, is long and painful.

But now I can almost get through shooting a 9mm magazine load before the pain is to much and I can't hold the gun up.
So it shouldn't be long before I'm "entertaining" the neighbors again, most every day.

Haven't bought factory ammo for years and have been lucky enough to have a LGS that has kept me supplied with components.
Still shooting twice a week and usually a minimum of 200 rounds.
I do notice the range is very quiet and saw a guy last week fire off two magazines of 9mm, he made the comment he was rationing it out, He looked at my shooting case drooling when he saw .357, 9mm and 45 all for that afternoons shooting.

Shoot every week-end as usual but a little more parsimoniously with the round count.

Ironically I've shot more in the last three months than in all of 2012. Unfortunately not one of those rounds were fired from my EDC, because I haven't been willing to pay the elevated price of 9mm, and haven't been able to grab a single box at normal prices (no luck at Walmart, Sportsman's Warehouse, etc). Yes, I've learned my lesson about keeping a decent stock on hand.

My range shut down. After several months it reopened under new management. I went twice then had eye surgery. Ready to go back and Sandy Hook happens. Have not been in months because I don't want to shoot up my ammo. I can't pay these prices for target ammo.
