I was just wondering how much ammo do you go through in a session? How often do you go to the shooting range? and for how long?

If you could please specify the guns that you use compared to ammo.

Thanks,

A.C.

As much ammo as I can.. tried to go Friday but we had a thunderstorm.

I have a somewhat unique position, I have friends that work for ATK, aka CCI, Speer etcetera... so when we get together we do use quite a bit of ammunition... :D

im 19 yo and pretty much broke, my shooting tends to be based on what I can afford to buy and when I can get out shooting.

Last range trip I went on {once every two months maybe?? mostly a out in the mountains/sticks kinda guy my self} was a week ago to help sight and break in my my moms hubbies new browning A-bolt. Spen about 5 hours at{I think, time flys with the brass} the Tacoma Sportsmans Club I brought my Tikka t-3 lite in .270WSM put about 50ish rounds threw it costing me about 70ish bucks. Brought my Ruger mini-14 with a reddot scope and put about 100 or so rounds of it through it with some dirty guatamalan 5.56 that I split a case of 1750 rounds.

Put about 60 rounds down range threw a S&W MP 15 with a leupold mark 4 CQ/T on it.

If I got a range its usally a rifle range and im just checkin the zero on my rifle or sighting something in and its usally in the range of 50-100+ rounds rifle and if its pistol any where from 100-500+ rounds

I usually go for a couple of hours. I generally shoot 100-200 45 LC, and maybe 150-200 rounds 22 LR.

I go shooting EVERY Saturday, snow or rain be damned.:D I usually shoot 50-100 rounds of 40 S&W, 50 rounds of 22 LR, 50 rounds of 357 magnum, and 30 rounds out of my SKS. Every couple of weeks I'll take my Marlin 22 mag out for about 50 rounds. I've currently got 3500 rounds of reloaded ammo in 40 S&W, so at 2400 rounds/year, that's a year and a half's worth of shooting, for $400.:D

For years I would go to the range 2-3 times a year just to maintain a base proficiency.

Over the last six months, I've become much more avid, started reloading, etc. Currently I go to the range once a week and burn 150-250 9mm, maybe 100 45acp, a dozen or so 7.62x54R, and .22LR until I get bored or it gets dark.

I shoot about five days a week and practice with lasers 2-5 evenings a week.

I'll shoot 1-3 guns several times through out the day but usually less than a hundred rounds at a time.

The guns range from 22 pistols to M1 Garands.

I try to do 50 rounds a week. Lately with the new house funds have been alotted to other things and I try not to shoot my stockpile unless I have money to replace it.

I average about 150 rounds per session at least once a week. Sometimes I'll go more than once and sometimes I'll shoot ALOT more, esp during a training wknd.

Well, being a newbie I've only gone twice. The first time I bought a 50-round box of 9mm for my Glock 17 and shot it all. Qualified for the Pro-Marksman rating too :)

Saturday I bought a 100-round box, shot 50 as before, halfway to the Marksman rating. Then, with some range time left, loaded up the full 17 rounds and let loose with it, shooting all 17 in about 15 seconds. Felt a little bit of a rush :)

We will not waver; we will not tire; we will not falter; and we will not fail. Peace and freedom will prevail." President George W. Bush, October 7, 2001

That sounds like a nursery rhyme.

Anyways usually ammo is outa my budget because I am a student. I spend $40 a year for family membership at the range and I try to shoot at least 500 rounds in 3 months time. That is divided between 1-.223, 2- 12 guages, 2- .40 cals, 1- 9mm, and 1- 7.62x39. My bad habit is I always shoot everything I have!

I need to buy a stock pile and not touch it! Or start reloading! Anyone know of a good suppliers for cheap?

I hit the outdoor range twice a month usually.

100rd 7.62x39
25-50rd .45
200 .22
12ga...sometimes
2-300 9mm (depending on who's with me)
100rd 38
20rd 357

That's a pretty active day. My favorite is the x39...can't shoot it enough.

I've found great joy in hitting steel excavator teeth at 80 yards with my carbine. That loud PING and satisfying knockover. Hanging bowling pins are cool, especially when swinging.

2x a week durring the week it's handguns at the indoor range and on the Weekends it's long guns at the outdoor range. I shoot between 100-300 in handgun calibers depending on what I'm shooting and 200-500 in Rifles. If I have the AR's It's easily 100+ per rifle the M1A gets fed 100 per week. The Bolt action 30-03 gets 50-100 and maybe the 10/22 gets 100-200 while I'm waiting for the others to cool down.

I used to go thru 300-400 rounds every trip
to the range which was 2-3 times a month.
Now that i work 50-55 hours a week my time
at the range has been cut back,in fact i don't
think i've been to the range in 5-6 weeks.

some centerfire rifle, not much of a pistol guy, but shoot it occasionally. Since I am hooked on all things 17m2 now, i can staly all day sat. and sun. tuning, and tweeking, and figuring out , just how they like things. 500 rounds of m2 per weekend is no prob.

Went to the range saturday with the old lady.

I shot 200 rnds 9mm out of G19.

We shot 300 rnds 22lr out of MarkIII

All in less than an hour.

Last week buddy and I went and blasted 1,000 rnds 9mm through a G19 and CZ75 in about 3 hrs....we had sore thumbs when we left.

Indoor/Outdoor

INDOOR: I do alot of trips to the indoor range in a years time. Deepending what I am working on will dictate how much time I spend, thus, how much ammo I burn.

If I am breaking in a rifle not that much, maybe just a dozen rounds in an hour for that one. If I am doing pistol work, going through 2 boxes of ammo doing group shots in 3-5 round groups, changing targets after ever group.

If I go to the fish-camp, - take everything, we will shoot it all up. Just kidding. I usually take 1000 rounds of AK/SKS stuff (7.62x39), and whatever might be onhand at the time.

Once a month(first Sunday of the month) as that`s the only time the local range has ---puplic day.
No charge and stay as long as you like.
Usually take (2) rifles. and a box of shells for each. Try to rotate rifles as
much as possible to try and keep the fine-tune process.........fine tuned.
Come early fall I settle in on a "pair" to take hunting. Never easy but it gets
done.
This year it looks like my 03 Springfield in 30-06 and my Sav 99 in .300 are
the early favorites. Subject to change of course.
The reason I take an extra rifle is to cover any mishap that might accure. You never know.
Range time is a valuable tool no matter how old or how long you`ve been
hunting.

I go once a month. I usually bring 200 rounds .45acp, and maybe 150-200 rounds for whichever rifle I bring. Lately its been my AR. Here's the tally:

.45 = 4 boxes CCI @ 13.00= 52.00
.223= 9 boxes Monarch (steel case) at 4.62= 41.58
8.75% sales tax on ammo= 8.19
range admision= 6.00 (not bad, and we have a nice range on a wma)
fuel (to and from range) = 10.00

So its a bit over a hundred bucks amonth. But its the only major hobby I have. I dont own a boat, motorbike or muscle car. I dont gamble, or do drugs.
Also, if I got off my ass and learned how to reload I could cut that ammo cost in half. That alone would save me almost 50 bucks a month.

I have NEVER been able to shoot as much as I want to. Mostly ammo costs. Until I finish law school, which is still a couple of ifs down the road, I'll be limited. This is why I bought an SKS and a .22 kit for my 1911. At least I can shoot a lot of those.
