who loves Ted Nugent?

He may be a cool guy in person, but I really dislike his public persona. Too much shouting and blustering and rahrahrah. Give him an audience of reasonable fence-sitters, and we've lost from the moment he opens his mouth and starts yelling.

I don't care if he took extraordinary steps to avoid the draft though - given that the concept of a draft is blatantly unconstitutional slavery.

He should stick to entertainment instead of being a spokesman for shooters and hunters in general. He has the potential to influence a great many people, but I don't think he's necessarily influencing the RIGHT people in the RIGHT ways. The people most impressed by him are the proverbial choir in the phrase "preaching to the choir". He impresses the "over my cold dead body" gun owners, but alienates pretty much everyone else. I don't think thats a good thing

He ruffles feathers, but I don't mind too much. He does a LOT for youth archery and hunting programs, and even when he has him moments, he would do anything for our cause.

I am not a person who believes that we are all supposed to be politically correct and speak in a certain way, and if you OFFEND someone, you don't deserve any life rewards. That is the rhetoric and bullying of political correctness.

Uncle Ted has said and done a few things that made me cringe. But I really think that the biggest difference between him and anyone else on either side of the issue is, he doesn't CARE who knows it. He doesn't try to hide it. Some people call that a lack of tact or manners. But that doesn't make someone a bad person.

The opposition is dishonest, they don't play fair, and they don't follow the rules. I really can't fault someone for pushing back as hard as they push US.

IMO, he does more harm than good for the RKBA cause.

I don't believe anyone who has not served our country themselves can know how a man who has been redeployed one to many times feels. I served in the Marine Corps but I never saw combat. I don't know how men in combat feel. Nugent would serve the NRA and our country better by keeping his trap shut about our very finest men.

Nugent is a good fund raiser. He should do whatever is required to raise enough money to preserve our second amendment rights. Other than fund raising he should just lay low.

The NRA has hired fresh new faces to promote gun ownership. Nugent should get out of their way and let them get the job done.

I'm sure the anti-2A crowd loves Ted Nugent. He's really good at giving gun owners a bad name.

Maybe we could get somebody who doesn't come off as a loud-mouthed moron to be the face and voice of gun-owning Americans?

If you ask me there are only 2 sides to gun rights. you are either for guns or against guns. Ted is for guns and so am I... its that simple
No offense but that is a strange way to look at things. Just because someone like guns doesn't mean I will like them. Just because someone likes guns doesn't mean they are right. Just because someone likes guns doesn't mean they represent me. I have met quite a few gun owners over the years that were just not good people. Sorry but to earn my respect someone has to have a little more to them than that. Ted nugent has not earned my respect

The funny thing about the Viet Nam War is that many vets from that war came back and didn't blame the draft dodgers for avoiding it. That war was #@$^*% up, and most came back feeling like it was a waste of time that could have killed them, and did kill many, for not so obvious reasons. Ah, but to get back on track, if we can forgive Jane Fonda, we can forgive Ted. I totally admire his stand, and he is more articulate than most.

Who forgives Jane Fonda? Sorry, never heard of this.

I think he'd be a good guy to hunt or have a few beers with. I agree with most of his points of view on guns, but he doesn't speak with the best judgement.

We as gun owners have to appeal not only to the camo-clad guys who go hunt every weekend, or to the tactical geeks who meticulously clean their new AR's every day after work, or to the old dudes packing S&W wheelguns. We have to show a reasonable face to everyone... not just to the people who think like we think.

Ted lives a life of regret for his youthful transgressions and he is in the company of presidents, senators, congressmen and judges to name a few.
There aren't many who donate as much time money and effort to 2a, hunting, and veterans causes as he does. Loud mouth? You bet. Does he get some attention? No doubt. Not all good not all bad but he is consistently Ted and I'm glad to have him on my side.

I remember him back in the day bragging about how he dodged the draft and how funny he thought that was.

Now he's trying to paint himself some kind of super patriot.

He's a hypocrite. I prefer an honest man to speak for my gun rights.

You can be a draft dodger and later become patriot. That is like someone that was a liberal can not become a conservative. Those old enough and lived in Texas know that the only people you could vote were Democrats. Yes there were conservative Democrats. You just had to pay attention who you voted for, even more so today.

Who else is speaking up for 2nd A rights like Ted does? Any one? You may not like the way he goes about it, but he has the same message. No Ted will not run for president.

Their are others that can speak to politics better than I may. I know who I like, I know who I do not like.

Chuck Norris would be a great 2-a spokes man. I do not think he would do it. We do not have a Charlton Heston today. Clint Eastwood could be, but I do not think he will.

So all you anti Ted people who do you want to speak for you on a national forum if you could get them to so?

Houston PD had to change their drug use policy, too many Vietnam Vets were applying that had smoked some pot over there. Times Change.

He's an attention whoring showboat who craves the limelight. Nobody cares about his music anymore, so he's using the only venue he can.

Hey, I saw him in concert when he was lead guitarist for Amboy Dukes. They were opening for Steppenwolf. Good concert.

But make no mistake, his bad boy rebellious attitude is not doing the cause of gun rights any good. The pseudo intellectual anti gun liberals look at him and assume all gun owners are as radical.

Who would I want to represent gun owners? Somebody who is not controversal. Do you people not understand anything about public relations? You want somebody who is cool under pressure and does not let his emotions rule his words. You want someone who knows when to speak and when to shut up. You want someone who picks his battles wisely, not somebody who is always mouthing off re everything with which he disagrees. The media loves nuge because they know he's giving us a black eye.

Take some time and read about Henry Kissinger. He was one of the coolest cats under pressure I'd ever seen. And he did some phenomenal stuff.

Put nugent in the retirement home for former rock stars. Give me a Kissinger any day.
