tell me about the Taurus 44 mag snub...

I've seen the Rossi branded ones, which look exactly like a short barreled Taurus Tracker. Is that what you are talking about? Academy sells them for $360? Every one I have picked up was junk. I don't say this as brand bashing, but as a frustrated would-be consumer. The counterbored muzzles were all messed up, one had the bluing scraped off the front of the cylinder, and so on. I never found one I would buy.

The 4" trackers I have handled looked OK.

If you are talking about the 444 (ultralight), I have never seen one in persson.

I looked at the Rossi at Academy. It feels chunky and heavy. Of course, that could be a good thing. I think it's only about 30 ounces, though, or a tad less, but it feels heavier than that. I was thinkin' of it as a carry with light loaded .44 mags, but i think I'll stick with my .357s.

I picked up one a few months ago used at a lgs. It's my daily carry. I've had a lot of Taurus revolvers, and a few Rossi's. I gotta say, other than "ouch", this is a bargain for conceal carry. Maybe I got a exception, but mine is accurate out to 30ft, which is all I've shot so far. And the trigger is pretty good in both DA/SA. I own a lot of Colt DA revolvers, so it's hard for other bands to impress me.

The Rossi weighs 31oz empty. Compared to my Taurus M44 3in DAO weighing in at 45oz, this thing is pretty light weight for a magnum. Which is where the "ouch" factor comes in. I've put about 200rds full house loads. It's a hand stinger.

All in all, it's no Colt or Smith. But it's a inexpensive, accurate, reliable gun for the money.

Lol why yes I have. After punishing myself shooting full house loads, I've resorted to loading my own. I currently load Hornady, Speer, and Noble 240gr with Alliant 2400. Been experimenting with 16-19gr. I've come to like 18gr loads the most. It's still a stout round, but not over kill. I also practice with C.O.P 44spl.
