Clean those pockets and slam them home.:banghead: If they are high they are not seated. Only difficulty I see is if you have crimped primer brass, you must remove the crimp. Use a hand priming tool gives the best feel of a seated primer. WLP are all good.
The one on the right looks very close to Hornady's long bearing surface 150gr. pill. Which I prefer for my .30 Cal. @ 3.300" AOL. Federal's American Eagle ammo uses this Horn. bullet seated to the crimp grove. Looks silly next to a M2 Ball cartridge.
Received 100 or so IVI 74 in a once fired lot of 500ct, and these are the only NATO cases that spit at the necks, noticeable thinner neck walls, but overall heavier than my batch of LC 92.
My personal load for my M1 Garand is 48gr. IMR 4064 under a 165gr. SGK bullet seated to a OAL of 3.29" in a Fed. or Win. case. Sierra's accuracy load with this bullet @ 2,700fps
46.5gr. AA2230C or AA2460 under a 150gr. pill in a LC cases works fine for my needs. 44gr. of same AA2230C with the M118 match bullet, is also safe in my Garands. I like these Accurate powders for the Garand, burn clean and economical.
IMO most accurized M1's will shoot better than us rifleman can. Therese days when the stars are not aligned and such. Practice technique and consistent loads are the keys.
Excessive chamber diameter is to blame. Most all cambering for the .45 Colt are at the upper limit of .490", .476" case diameters, of modern springy brass have to expand .014" to seal off blow back. Combine this with the CAS mouse fart loads and you get powder dirtied brass. This also leads to...
Bought 1500 M72/M118 bullets from the CMP in 98'. At 174-175gr. very similar to the commercial 175gr. offerings. The M118LR ammo uses the 175 grain SMK's BTHP bullet. Haven't seen a difference in accuracy at the shorter 200-300yd ranges in my accurized Tanker Garand in 7.62mm. The main...
Unique would be my choice if I was limited to one powder. The big 45' don't need a lot of speed and recoil to be effective with a 250-320gr. lead boolit. 14gr. of Blue-dot under a 255gr. RF/SWC is to my Blackhawk's liking, clocks around 1100fps. Linebaugh has some good recommendations here...
