IMO the three inch barrel is the minimum size for reasonable accuracy and controllability, for many folks. there's a reason that the FBI issue .357 (model 13) came in 3 and 4 inch barrel length. now, carry ammo is your call, of course, but MY method is to train with what i'm going to shoot...

I go with HKS and havn't found any reason to gripe yet. fast enough so far and they're Positive..

GP100s are strong pistols, but.. smiths might be a little smoother and MAYBE more accurate (or at least, easier to Shoot accurately) out of the box.. and if you shoot either one enough to wear it much you'll be older when it happens.. i'd suggest that shooting lightweight uberfast .357s...
