I have 2 03A3s. A Smith Corona and a RA. The recoil isn't bad but the steel butt plate can be a pain. I use a 10X shooting coat. Accuracy can be amazing. This is 100 yards off a bench with near max load out of a 4 groove SC. RA 2 groove is comperable.

220 Weatherby Rocket (220 Swift Improved) .30 Gibbs (30-06 Improved, pushes a 180 gr SGK @ 3000 fps out of an 03A3)

I received 5K rounds of LC brass from JBLM. I had the same issue until I used a SB die. It seems some was fired from a SAW. The second loading worked fine with a standard resizing die.

Google "cmp forum". You will find days of good reading on the 03A3. I use USSR stain and BLO.

Could it be a weak recoil spring? I have an M45 Firestar and have never had this issue.

I have an original 1861 Contract Musket that's been in the family for 80 years. As-new condition. How should I load it? I'm not a BP guy.

My son in law is a Baptist Minister with a church of his own. He is also a sworn Deputy Sheriff. He carries at all times. I don't worry much about my daughter and grandson. 18 year old Grandson is also a very good shot.

For the price and for your purpose you can't do much better than what you have IMHO. My AR likes them. I just got 1K for $96 to my door. I use H335 because it measures and pours much better than extruded powders into that little neck.
