Help Me Pick My First AR

Again, thanks all! Yup, I did it - Picked up my Colt M4 this past week, wiped out the excess factory oil and took her to the range yesterday. Just put 60 rounds though it, but, boy, oh boy, I KNEW on the first shot I made the right decision; what a great piece of machinery! Great fit and...

Most efficient and quickest cleaning method

I just started using Hoppes "Elite" cleaner, which is apparently relabeled MPro-7. Cleans up carbon deposits real good and works fairly fast; even the insides of the port on my 66 F-Comp come clean. And best of all, this stuff is (says it's) non-toxic.

    sw99 compact or glock 26

For whatever reason, I can't shoot a G26 straight no matter how many I've tried. On the other hand, I shoot a SA XD Sub-9 so well, I bought one. Since it's double stack I find it a bit thick for IWB, but it does conceal well in regular CCW holsters.

Help Me Pick My First AR

Well, after lots of thought and research, I'm back to the Colt 6400-C for a number of reasons: Resale value and the understanding that this model is standardized in terms of takedown pin sizes, replacable uppers and some drop-in parts. I looked at all the suggestions plus a few custom...

Scary moment at the range this morning

Ouch! It hurts just looking at that. Methinks dissimilar metals expanding at differing rates due to heating in conjunction with high pressures equals the unfortunate result. Over-torquing the threads might contribute also.

Yet Another "Which 1911 Should I Buy" Thread

S&W emailed me to let me know they were were going to go over the 1911 with a fine-tooth comb and make it right... we will see. Meanwhile, the local range had a Sig show, with demo models you could shoot, and yes, I got to shoot my next 1911... the GSR. However, I will wait until a few...

Yet Another "Which 1911 Should I Buy" Thread

MaterDei- In brief, two guns, six trips back between the both of them. :cuss: Sadly, I think they're not quite right yet (not in spec), so I'm cutting my losses. And I'm a Smith fan and remain so, just not a S&W 1911 fan. 45auto- That's what I mean, all those features! I want 'em. Just...

Yet Another "Which 1911 Should I Buy" Thread

Ok, I know there's probably a ton of these threads, but I want one for myself :D Giving up on my SW1911 and starting again. Too many times back to the factory. :banghead: In the 700-900 price range, what do 'yall think is a reasonable buy? I'm leaning toward a Colt XSE, but SA and...

    springfield 1911 sights

Go here -> http://www.bullseyepistol.com Click on "Error Analysis and Correction." This chart (and the website) have helped me go from dud to stud at the range.

    Walther P22 Yea or Nay?

Kodiak, that is gray. (some day I'll improve my digital photography skills) It was a special that one of the stores had in this area in grey with both long and short barrels. The scope mount I picked up later.

    Walther P22 Yea or Nay?

Now, with a broken-in, scoped P22 http://www.thehighroad.org/attachment.php?s=&postid=848665 , I go 500-800 rounds between cleanings because the scope has to be removed for detailed cleaning. When extremly dirty and shooting bulk-pack ammo it may misfire once and fire on a subsequent DA pull...

    Walther P22 Yea or Nay?

Having beat on P22's early on and even returning one for a refund, I am now the proud owner of a 2 bbl (short and long) P22. :D I love it and even have it set up with a dot sight. Even my non-shooter friends like to shoot it- a few have been converted... It makes a great training gun, and it...

Show off your dot sight equiped .22's

Ok, this should do it... Walther P22... I know, this pic is awful, but the digital camera is so old --- it has vacuum tubes in it... With the dot sight and the minimal weight of the gun, it's a great training weapon, that dot moves with evey error you make. And it stays in place and groups...

Show off your dot sight equiped .22's

Plastic... Accurate... P22... Trainer that everyone loves... Well,l I TRIED to post a picture of my scoped P22 to no avail. If I can figure it out I'll get a pic in here. And for some reason I can't delete this post.

    No More S&W Mag Compatibility

Wasn't S&W owned by the Brits when the agreement was signed? And wasn't jolly 'ole England finishing up their civilian gun sweep at the time? Perhaps the former owners were s****ing their pants that if they didn't do anything they might end up with nothing? As in no company at all? Food for...

    Your Favorite 9mm and Why

My first 1911 was a SA loaded in 9mm. Incredibly accurate with 124 gr bullets, +P is even better. Everyone who shoots it loves it. Still my favorite handgun. My SA XD Sub 9 is a close second.

    Springfield XD ???s

Barns - I had SA install night sights when I sent my XD sub-9 for a failure to extract problem (it needed to have the chamber polished). I didn't specify which sights (am unsure if there is a choice). They installed XS Big Dot tritium night sights which took almost no getting used to in full...

How to answer Tuckable IWB ?

No one has every asked me what the clip is. My mother hasn't noticed, LEOs on the street in Philly haven't noticed, the fellow shooter in my office hasn't noticed. On me it's at 3:30-4:00 a bit behind where my arm hangs down. I always wear regular button-down shirts, although I wear the...

do US PD's stil issue sixguns?

I've seen some fairly young Philadelphia LEOs carrying revolvers recently. Not a large number, but I do notice that revos are not uncommon here.

    Springfield XD ???s

Every time I take my XD Sub-9 to the range, I am blown away at the accuracy and consistency of the little shooter. :D While it is considered "single action" the trigger is not too light; it does take a conscious effort to press the trigger, but it is consistent. It is considered single...
