    Whack-a-Poll

In response to debates at a local university, the Omaha Weird Harold has posted a poll concerning CCW on campus. The antis are winning handily. It's at omaha.com Scroll down to the bottom of the page. Thanks, all! /rl

    Dremel tools

Err... my personal advice (as one who has done both useful work and created lots of damage with Dremels, Foredoms, and files): Figure out what you want to do. Then figure out what tools you need. Referring to files as "metal filers" suggests you should probably do more research. /rl

    Glock 27 - Generations / versions?

As alluded to in a previous post, I'm new to the Glock world. I recently added a G27 with s/n BSTxxx to my safe. I'm trying to figure out what updates have been made to this model. Mine has finger grooves, but no checkering in them. I don't care much about aesthetics, but I am curious if...

New to Glocks - primer denting?

Mystery solved... After checking to make sure the striker moved freely a second time, I checked the rest of the ammo in the box - I thought it was odd the the indentations seemed to come from a much smaller point than the striker... About 40% of the ammo from that box have the same mark...

New to Glocks - primer denting?

Thanks, aquapong These are on unfired cases - the slide has simply been dropped on them. They are very faint indentations. I'm getting ready to strip the slide right now. More later... /rl

New to Glocks - primer denting?

I just purchased my first Glock - a used 27. S/N is BSTxxx - I have yet to figure out when it was made. Anybody know? I called Glock, but got sent to voicemail. I glanced at 2 unfired rounds that were cycled through it, and noticed that both had barely perceptible indentations in the primer...

OMAHA: Girl's Leg Shattered By Round From AK-47

Charges have been filed.... http://www.wowt.com/home/headlines/14236607.html They've charged him with felony assault. I recommend reading the comments posted after the article. The sheep bleat loudly around here. /rl

    Is this a real gun?

Looks to me like a short barreled pistol caliber AR with one of Tom Bower's cans on it. It's a pretty small suppressor, so it may be a .22 LR upper. On further research, it may be this can: http://www.subguns.org/products/cans/ATAS/ /rl

Shooting down RC aircraft - take two This is the same video referenced in my previous post, just easier to get to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFbij9WddYU Roswell - I don't suggest it is a realistic test. It is, however, people shooting a flying object at close range with multiple machine...

    Find the holes

RE: Shooting down aircraft While I agree a well placed .50 will knock down almost anything, I don't think many people understand how difficult it is to make that well placed shot. The following video (apologies for the poor hosting) was shot at the Cheyenne Wells Machine Gun Shoot this...

How do I change the safety on my USP

First you need to get the control lever that you want - Numrich has them, occasionally. If you are making any functional control changes (going from SA/DA/Decock to DA Only) you may need a different detent plate, too. There are instructions on detail stripping a USP out there - it's pretty...

Omaha Doctor calls for assault weapons ban

Thanks Eagle103! Eagle103 seems to have found the same sources I did. CDC firearms related deaths can be found at: http://webapp.cdc.gov/sasweb/ncipc/mortrate.html My quote of 195,000 hospital related deaths can be found at: http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/11856.php My...

Omaha Doctor calls for assault weapons ban

Oddly enough.... ... I submitted a comment to wowt.com citing my sources for the statistics that show medical malpractice killed 6 times as many people as firearms in the years 2000 - 2002, but the moderators didn't post it. Several anti-gun comments have been posted since then, though. I'm...

Omaha Doctor calls for assault weapons ban

Malpractice vs. Firearms deaths I just checked this out and posted a comment on wowt.com. The mods there don't care for a lot of my comments, so it may or may not make it to the public. In 2000, 2001, and 2002 malpractice deaths ran about 195,000 per year. In those same years _all_ firearms...
