That Taurus set up does look like fun!

    What model 45

My son and I both have been shooting the parkerized GI models for over a year - the best value 1911 I have ever owned. Both have been 100% reliable with quite a variety of ammo. I bought mine to trick out. I have left it alone and am happy with it though the small sights are not the fastest to...

Most pleasant to shoot .45 ACP?

The most "pleasant" shooting 45 in my experience is the HK Expert. Not much in the way of value however.

    Colt .38 Super

In my experience the price is about right for a first year 38super- but that condition should reduce the value by 2-300 dollars. I'd try $1600 and see where that went.

    Wringin' Out the 'Rinco

Do not equate my statement with the naive view that one can fight the global economy. Of course many things purchased are from Communist China, either in whole or in part. Given an option I prefer not to buy items made or sold by communists. :neener:

    best 45 for concealed carry?

No the early one's have the bushingless barrel and the guide rod. They were well made and work. despite the fact that they are set up as they are, I have found them to be an outstandig compromise. In my experience they work. From what I have seen the newer Kimbers don't fare as well. This is my...

    best 45 for concealed carry?

If you can find an early Kimber Compact Aluminum get one. It replaced both my ltwt Comander and Officers models. I am not a Kimber fan nor a "bull barrel guide rod" guy. The Compact Alums are a great compromise and flat out work. I know several owners and they agree. If I couldn't find one, I'd...

What do think about 375 HH Mag

I agree completely with H&H. I have used a 375 for years, bear and deer and it is a great caliber. I use a Sako carbine with a quarter rib. It is handy,a little noisy and always just right. I'd let him go for it. My son started shooting mine at 14. :D

Clint Smith Loses It in Jan-Feb '05 American Handgunner

I am spot -on with Clint Smith. A lot of folks like 44spec and would like a S&W. He gets them to bring one out and people bitch. If you don't like it don't buy it. If you want a cheaper one buy a Taurus or find a used gun.

    The ultimate handgun

I know what you mean..... There is just something about a Webley MK VI and a Colt 1908 .25--- I just can't explain :scrutiny:

    Guns do "just go off"

It was in fact Iver Johnson who first had the patent on the transfer bar and used it in its revolvers. Hence "hammer the Hammer" Score another one for Tamara. ;)

    Pocket Carry. Holsterless

No. I do not believe it is a good idea. The metal can wear the pocket and rip in addition to all the other reasons you will hear it is not sharp practice.

HK USP 45, full size. Info needed before purchase

Mine have been all they are hyped to be. I am pretty much a 1911 and BHP guy but really like USP's. The grip angle is all 1911 and BHP, I like the cocked and locked option and the mag capacity doesn't hurt either. I have found them to be accurate and reliable. They get my vote in the tupperware...

Seized by the Manchester, New Hampshire PD for Open Carry

While I am of the opinion you were wronged, I would be hesitant to file suit when you could have been disarmed as you described. Part of the responsibility of carrying a firearm either open or concealed is to keep it under your control and not allow others to gain control. This is part of the...
