I have both the 597 fits me much better but I have not shot the heck
out of it to compare it to the 10/22 quality. Both are accurate 597 maybe
has the edge here but after replacing the 10/22s stock no complants.
The only advice I have is dillons machines and the company are second to
none for the noncomercial reloader. And also buy what you really want the
first time you will wast a lot more upgradeing every so often. Save for a few more months if need be to get what you decide on whatever brand that...
I had an old lyman I got used probably 20+ years old worked great. Needed a bigger one bought a dillon a lot less noise and smoother. But
the lymans made in the last decade maybe inproved as well.
I have only used dillon case lube but have loaded several thousand rds
of .223. No problems sofar I lay a shop towel with as many cases as I
can fit on it and spray away. Let dry a bit and put them in the casefeeder.
Works for me.
Yes it is a dillon 650 w/casfeed and dillon case trimmer , can load .223 .243
.45acp .44mag and.357 with it so far. Dillon case tumbler and scales. And of
course all the case gages and calipers . Yes that is a shop air supply line
you can't see the quick coupler in the photo. I put one on...
Bought some brass from HQ BRASS they advertised here all great stuff
cleaned ready to go. They were prompt and a great price 1000 45acp
for 35.00 shipped. Thanks HQ.
You will not find ballistic tip ammo of any kind for surplus prices. It is quite
expensive a ballistic tip is a polymer tipped bullet such as hornadays v-max
or winchesters silver tip. Surplus ammo with colored tips designate it being
armor pierceing tracer etc. Range will probably frown on...
Most people say barrel break in is a myth, do what makes you feel good.
I clean mine after every shooting no matter if its 30rds or 1000.I have never had a problem with barrel life I shoot as much as I want to even if
it's brannew when I am done I clean.
Want some opinions on the prototype bullet feeder shown on
brian enos website. Would it be a huge time saver, put out a few more
rounds not a must, pain in the rear to miss with?
This is the main reason I bought my 650 as I allready had a 550 when
I want to load a buttload of shells the only station I have to watch is seating. And it is easy for me to tell if a primer is inserted by feal. So my
whole attention is on the seating station and can concentrate on powder...
I have a 550 and 650 the 650 by far the fastest with the casefeeder but
the 550 is a lot faster than a rockchucker. I would get the 550 over the square deal I know you say you only want to reload handgun now but
what about 5 or ten years down the road? I would also have to give a
thumbs up...
Go to hornaday's website they have some excellant loads listed for the 55gr v-max. I load mine about 1 grain under max with 4064. They also have
loads listed for heavier v-max bullets.
