Many guns have both short dustcover and full length dust cover models available. The 1911 and CZ 75 vs SP-01, tanfolgio stock II vs limited pro come to mind.
I know the full length dustcovers put weight at the nose of the gun and help with recoil reduction at the cost of a heavier gun...
The victim remained outside, but McKnight returned a few minutes later and jumped out of the car with a .45-caliber pistol. He confronted the victim and shot him four times, police said – three times in the legs and once in the arm.
Police said the victim was treated at the hospital and...
I am not talking about special units that use a 1911 or whatever.
I am talking about general issue pistols that get issued to a wide variety of troops, like the M9 (berretta 92fs) is in the US military.
I just started doing USPSA procution division at the local club with my CZ-75.
I am using a bianchi nylon duty belt, bladetech dropped offset holster, and a
bladetech Millennium DMP Double Stack mag pouch.
Is this good gear to start with?
Also I have been thinking about buying Matt...
In order for the trigger to reset the slide has to "cock" or reset the striker.
How is this any different then a single action BHP or 1911 with the exception that they have external hammers?
A true double action semi auto does not need the slide to cock the hammer, if you dry fire a...
Various manufactures make guns with and without firing pin safeties for 1911's, CZ's, BHP's, etc.
They prevent the gun from firing if dropped hard at the right angle, but it generally thought that they decrease the quality of the trigger pull and they were not even around until the 1970's...
Does it change zeros?
For instance if I zeroed the adjustable sights on the kadet on my CZ 75b SA frame and then put it on my SP-01 frame, will it change the kadet kit's point of impact on the SP-01 frame vs the 75b frame?
I am guessing not since the sights are on the slide.
Thanks
Does anyone have a link to a ballistics gelatin test of WWB 147 gr jhp?
I found this article:
http://ammo.ar15.com/project/Fackler_Articles/winchester_9mm.pdf
Is the WWB 147 gr JHP the same load as the one being discussed in this article from 1991?
I can not find any ballistics gelatin tests out of a 2.75 inch (ruger lcp) barrel showing a 380 round that will penetrate at least 12 inches in ballistics gelatin and expand.
Obviosly FMJ will penetrate but not expand and all JHP I have seen will expand but not penetrate 12 inches.
Any...

I have a 12 guage 870 express with a 20 inch smooth bore barrel with rifle sights, but I have been thinking abour replacing the rifle sights with a Ghost ring set up.
My primary concern is shooting foster/brenneke slugs as accurately as possible.
I dont want a rifled barrel or sabot slugs...
As I have learned more about firearms I have pretty much accepted the Fackler / FBI data that suggest a defensive round should penetrate at least 12 inches but not more then 18 inches of balistics gelatin and be as big as caliber as possible to facilitate blood loss.
I believe Fackler also...
