Both of these guns are available with entry level glass at Bass Pro. The Mossberg 100 ATR has the adjustable trigger. This model of the Savage does not. The glass on both is a sale bundle...so no telling. Thanks in advance for the input.
Academy Sports is the only one in my area that has these. They are on sale from $250. I only go hunting twice a year and was thinking of taking a chance on one.

Just got a used Smith 637 with a TON of lead build up in barrel. So after much Hoppes 9 and elbow grease its all clean. However, the Hoppes got onto the clear (lacquer?) finish and ate it up! So I removed all of the finish. Since its an Airweight (aluminum alloy) should I worry about rust?
I am a college instructor going for a masters in art (graphic communications). I want to do an art piece using several guns (50+). I want real guns, probably military surplus...like nagants. They do not have to be real good guns...just real cheap guns.
Advice? Suggestions? Thanks!
I have seen that ammo is hard to find and one gun store owner I spoke with said he can only find .38 in reload and that .380 is not anywhere to be found. He also said there is speculation of producing ammo with primers that will go inert after a given time to cut out storage.
Anyway, when...
I really like my Romy 58 SKS. I am new to the rifle thing. I am a revolver guy from way back.
With all the changes in govt, shtf scenarios, and gun / ammo prices what they are...and the limited supply of SKSs; I want to buy 2 SKSs and put them up for my boys (7 and 3).
My fear is they...
For the life of me I cannot find some low priced grips that I like for my SW 10 snubbie. I bought a abused pair of wood ones and painted them black, but the paint could not overcome the abuse. Next I ordered some Pachmyers from CTD but they were huge. Any pointers on getting away from the...
Finally went out and shot my Romanian SKS! For a novice, I was making a 10" group at 120 yards!
I bought a pack of the stripper clips from Cheaper Than Dirt, but they would not go in. There are a couple "barbs" on each side that keeps them from going through the guide.
Have you all...
I bought a 1958 Romanian SKS today. $300 rifle only, wrong bayonet, missing the cleaning rod. It takes the zipper clips. How do I get it to accept duckbill magazines? It looks like the screw on the side would remove the magazine and replace with regular magazine. I would appreciate any advice.
I am itching to have an AK or SKS. A local has a '59 Romanian SKS for $350. I think the price is OK. When I go and look at it, how can I tell its Romanian? Thanks.
