I am old enough to remember that one time the focus was on "Saturday Night Specials", cheap small handguns.

The thing to remember is that the anti-freedom crowd hates firearms of all sizes, capacities, and costs. They use "divide and conquer" techniques to accomplish their goal of complete civilian disarmament. As a result, it is "Saturday Night Specials" one day, "Sniper Rifles" the next, and "Assault Weapons" the day after.

The only antidote is to fight them tooth and nail, and to not give an inch.

These hoods don't really give a fat rat's derriere about any of that; they'll use what they can lay hands on. And all this pontificating about caliber doesn't matter to anyone but the professor...and anyone he might convince.

Well, a lot of preachin' to the choir here. Our biggest problem is that those who allow themselves to be duped by the mainstream media either don't know, or don't care, that they are being led like lambs to the slaughter.

These are the people who fervently believe they know what's going on in our country -- because they read it (or heard it) in the news.

I am no longer so concerned about the terminology that's used as I am the fact that our side is failing at educating the young people coming up. Didn't used to be so; now we allow kids to grow up thinking guns are inherently evil. We've given up fighting our school boards over the p.c. curriculum and revisionist history; there are no rifle clubs in our schools, ROTC (a key vehicle at one time for educating our youth) is diminishing in both the public schools and the universities, hell, even kids drawing pictures of guns in grade school gets them kicked out.

The media and politicians ignore the fact that despite heavy gun restrictions in European countries, there are still murders, mass killings, and terrorist attacks. People simply use knives and other tools instead of guns.

....and that was the time when most criminals could only afford Saturday Night Specials. Those who could afford better had better, i.e. Tommy guns and BARs. Look at Prohibition times. But then they generally only used them against other gangs, families or the cops, so regular folks paid little mind. Nowadays, even the most petty thief has a high capacity handgun and will use it on any little old lady that gets in front of him at the liquor store. I'm not endorsing any more regulation on firearms, just the opposite, but I am realistic enough to know that bigger guns make bigger holes and gun with more bullets coming out the barrel, make more holes. Anyone here have proof against this? It ain't Rocket Science. The Pandora's Box has been opened for criminals and high capacity firearms. No amount of regulations is going to keep them from criminals. Like when the Cops needed high capacity firearms to keep up with the criminals, so do we, the general public. This is what we need to argue, not pick nits over gun terminology.

"... Shall not be infringed."

Except for cheap guns.
Except for fast guns.
Except for big guns.
Except for scary looking guns.
Except...

Every inch we give while looking for "compromise" is another step into the grave for ALL of our natural rights. This is, and has always been, about controlling the populace. It has absolutely nothing to do with public safety. If Feinstein and her ilk truly believe that getting rid of guns is the answer, let them lead from the front and dismiss all of their armed guards first.

What these so called reporters won't discuss is why shootings happen in some areas but not others, and what needs to change in the areas where shootings are prevalent. I attached is a map of shootings in Chicago. There are two areas, the South and West sides where the majority of them take place. If all Chicago residents have access to the same guns and guns are the problem why aren't the number of shootings the same throughout the city? Address the issues residents in the high crime areas face and the shootings will decline. Giving students school vouchers so the good families in those areas, which is the majority of them, can send their kids to quality schools and have a chance at a good life that a good education provides is a place to start. It's a complicated issue and that's not the only solution, but continuing to blames guns while ignoring why people in these areas continue the shootings just causes it to continue.

They're obviously getting what they want, since they keep voting for it.

If somebody else slams your hand in the drawer, you have a right to complain.

If you slam the drawer on your own hand... for SIXTY YEARS, you're just a fool.
