The 10/22 is a doll for boys. You get to dress it up different ways, and retain your masculinity.

A while back, I picked up an inexpensive, older 10/22 in good shape. I put all the Volquartsen guts in it, and got the trigger pull and take-up where I wanted it. Then, I decided it needed a stock and scope.

    Exhibit A:

Sure, it shot well. Real well. But with that scope and the bipod, the effort was gone. I've been getting back into irons lately, and felt that I needed a good 22 to practice with. Time to play with dolls. :)

I wanted good sights, and found the Techsights 100. Poking around on that site, I saw that they made an M1 Carbine-type stock as well. Bingo!

    Here's how it came out:

The stock fits very well, and I really like the sights. MUCH easier to carry around now, too. First clear day this week, I'll get a range trip in; report to follow.

    Thoughts?

I like it a lot. I put Tech Sights on mine, too, and I love them. I rarely shoot scopes these days on any of my rifles. The Tech Sights are top quality equipment.

Thats great! I always thought 10/22s resembled m1 carbines. That looks great (And fun)

Hrmph, I know I vowed to never buy a 10/22 again but the carbine stock might make me change my mind. Great looking rifles all!

I still like to dress up my doll, and so does she, but those are nice!

I can't photograph mine but a 10/22 was my first rifle. I threw a metal ventilated handguard, flash suppresor, extended mag release, see-thru scope mount and scope, as well as a high-cap mag on it decades ago and it was even more fun!

    Thanks for sharing.

Wow! I like! I've been looking for a 10/22 mod that isn't the usual thumbhole stock bull barrel scoped permutation.

    Thank you!

Thanks for the kind words, guys.

I don't know why, but I had to do it. I just had to make one. It was fun to look at and easy to shoot, I just never really enjoyed it. I used it mostly as a spotting scope, since it had Hubble jr on top of it.

After doing a bit of reading, I discovered that this configuration is very similar to the Appleseed Liberty Training Rifle; sights and all. That, to me, is a pretty good vote of confidence. I think it's a keeper.

Someone should dress up their M44 (the 44mag 10/22) into a carbine look alike.
