Interesting discussion; many different experiences and opinions. I guess I was a very early 10mm adopter. I acquired a Bren Ten during the very short time they were in production, then various S&Ws, a Glock, Colt Delta, Kimber, Ruger, semi-autos and revolvers. My Delta had the infamous poorly supported chamber; plenty of unsupported brass hanging out over the barrel throat. I had BarSto install an early integrally ramped barrel. The Kimber had the best 10mm case head support I've seen. Over time, the S&W semi-autos became my favorites; had 1006s, 1076s, and 1026s. All robust, reliable pistols. Used mainly with reloads equivalent to the old Norma, and more recent Buffalo Bore and Underwood factory offerings. I preferred the 5" guns, but none of the half dozen S&Ws autos I had gave any trouble.
BTW, That original Norma 200 grain load actually did do 1200 FPS or so in my various 5" semi-autos and revolvers..
