I'm reviewing a 10MM auto for Concealed Carry Magazine. I've not shot a 10MM in over 10 years, and even then, that was only on to paper.
I really got to play with one today.
Decided to try them on a steel plate.

The .45ACP busted through the plate... but it was more like pushing through a dent.
The 10mm really drilled through. Like you but it under a drill press.
Amazing.
Most amazing is that the 10MM was not hard to shoot at all. While I am not sure I would buy an EAA Witness 10MM... I am pretty sure I'm wanting to buy a Dan Wesson Bobtail Commander 10MM.

I have a Glock 29. I really like it. I do carry it sometimes. IMO, the 10mm is a versatile caliber when you reload. You can load anything from easy target loads to really full power loads. Double Tap ammo is also great . I wish the 10mm ammo/brass prices would come more in line with the other ammo/brass prices though. My wife likes to shoot my G29.

The witness 10mm is built like a tank. If there was every a strong well made 10mm this is it. I pushed mine far beyond what sane reloaders would do because it only costs $285 and if I blew it up, well who cares it was cheap and I knew I was pushing it. Great gun, never had a problem, excellent accuracy at long ranges and plenty of punch.

I used it for years as my truck gun in west texas instead of a rifle. With a bunch of mags in the center console I was well stocked and good to go.

Basically If you want to shoot wild rounds, don't do it in your 1911 since you are pushing the limits of the design. Get a witness and don't sweat it!

Note there have been slide cracking problems with the "new" rounded profile Witness 10mm guns (as, shown in the photo, you could read about it here if the search function worked). EAA replaced mine with the older style squarish profile slide. More rounds thru it now than when the original broke.

Getting mags to work in your particular EAA gun is the major problem with the Witness guns in my experience, except in .45ACP where they've all worked.

Now, I've never seen one of these guns for sale at new retail.
What prices are you guys seeing them at?

Magazine problems... indeed. This gun jams like a rock band. But it's predictable. The second to the last round in the mag will fail to feed, choosing instead to point straight up in the mag and bind the gun. The rest of the magazine runs fine up to that point. It's an easy jam to clear out in the desert when there is no incoming fire... but this isn't a set up I'd want to roll into Harm's Way Avenue with. Unfortunately EAA only sent me one magazine for the gun. No spares. This is interesting, because they are the first company to ever only send 1 mag. Normally I've been sent 2 or 3 or 5. So I can't tell if this a normal issue with these mags or unique to this one.

I'm going to use my Economic Stimulus check to put a Dan Wesson on order.

Handled a Dan Wesson Commander in 10mm a couple weeks ago, and it did indeed look and feel quite purty. My only complaint is that I really wish DW would offer finishes OTHER than stainless.

I would definitely vote for a Witness Elite Match over a Kimber or DW. 1/3 less money, twice the capacity, and my Match is a sweet gun to shoot.

Agree that the one in the photo should not be pushed with hard loads, as those slides just don't take it. EAA has switched back to the squared on all the guns in 10mm.

wow I can sell my drill , drill press and replace both with a 10mm Been looking for a reason to buy another gun.
Might then get my X wife to help me install that TV dish.:rolleyes::D

While not a bobtail, not a commander, and possibly only in .45, you should check out their new 1911, the "Valor". It may not be anything more than gun porn, but it serves that purpose well if it doesn't fit your bill. :)

I'm also looking at getting one of the Dan Wesson's in 10mm. I'd like the Bobtail Commander as well as the Pointman Seven, or possibly the new Valor, further down the road when they are more readily available.

Oooh, looky. I found a picture. DAMN purdy or a stock 1911, IMO.

I'm considering the Bobtail in 10mm due to the fact that I'll probably carry it often, and 10mm gives you one extra round capacity. Usually that translates to a compromise in caliber effectiveness, but the 10mm is nothing to sneeze at.
