I went hunting with my 9 yo grandson with a 1909 6.5 x 54 M-S rifle with a 1x scope. A buck walked by at 155 yds. and I elevated and missed. 2nd shot also missed. Last shot spooked the deer and it ran off.
My 9 yo grandson thought I killed it and went nuts, "Poppa, my heart's beating out of my chest. I think I'm having a heart attack!"
Unfortunately, I missed the deer.
The next morning I used my 1909 Argentine Mauser and killed a small buck but Nate was back in school. The next day I killed another buck and had to get my tractor to load him. (Old age ain't no fun.") That old rifle with Hornady 150 gr. bullets did short work on both of them.
I have to recheck the zero on the Mannlicher-Schoenauer before hunting with it again.
The 7.65 Arg. Mauser is still alive and kicking.
