Decided to go ahead and shoot this test despite the high wind. The conditions were not perfect in any means. Had 15-20 mph wind with Gust to 30, direction 8:00. The saving grace was it was not constant and the direction was shielded by my house. So I tried to shoot these when the wind laid.

Did a latter test from 5.2gr to 5.6 gr. Dispensed off a RCBS 1500
115 gr XTP's at 1.125" OAL
WSP, Win Brass

Test gun my 1911 Dual upper (9mm, 357sig) @ 25 yrds. 120 rounds since cleaning

Used my version of the Ransom Rest, set not to auto reset. Meaning I had to return the gun to fire position.

Target has a 2" BE with 1" outer rings.

Ignore the BE and look only as the groups. With my setup I can not move lateral without taking things loose. Once I lock every thing down I don't touch it. POI is what we are looking at.

I don't shoot very many 115gr 9mm bullets. All my guns have a preference for 124gr. This was the first time shooting 115gr through this gun.

For many years I shot 5.2gr of WSF under a 115gr bullet.
At the time, Atlanta arms was using XTP’s over 5.2 WSF in Starline brass.
That’s when the AMU at Ft Benning started using the Atlanta Arms load in their David Sams modified Berettas.
It’s a proven load.
Anderson Arms of South Carolina formerly loaded 4.3gr of WSF with a 147gr XTP. Also quite accurate.

With a 115gr, I preferred 4.9-5.0gr of HP38 /Win231.

My 1/18-3/8” twist S&W’s prefer 115’s-124’s. The later 1/16” and 1/10” twist custom 1911’s shoot 147’s better.
If you like XTP’s check out the Precision Delta 115’s. Same design, 1/3 the price!
I know Bobby Tranum. He makes good bullets!

I did some testing with WSF for a Sig 938 with 124gr jacketed bullets and it worked well, then I tried some BE-86 and liked that better.

Thanks for the report. I used to shoot a lot of WSF before Sport Pistol was born. It’s a good idea to have loads worked out for different powders, especially in times like these.
