gamestalker,

to add to archangelcds post, the added benefit of a mag primer is less powder for the same velocity. helps in the dinky 9mm case.

oh, one more thing. please, reduce your load ten percent to start and work up. i'm sure you will get more pressure from the mag primer if you don't.

Alrighty then, next time I load some HS6 I'm gonna try it with CCI-550's.

And yes, Longshot is definitely a good performer, but gosh darn it's loud and flashy. But on the same note, I load a bunch of H110 / 296 stuff, talk about loud and flashy.

I have found in the 9mm case when you use a magnum primer you can reduce the charge weight of HS-6 by only between .1gr or .2gr to achieve the same velocity. Hey, any savings of powder is a good thing and over the long haul it will add up.

FWIW, I checked a couple of my boxes of 124 gr. XTP handloads I have sitting on the shelf....they were assembled at 1.100" sitting on top of a charge of Unique.

And mine are at 1.140" over lightly compressed vv n340 with Fed Match Primers running about 1175-1200 fps out of a 3.6" bbl and the other a 4.6" bbl and they are both accurate, cool and clean burning.. :)

And while I appreciate both posts knowing what you loaded your ammo to has nothing to do with the factory COAL. That's what I was asking about. (before we all got into a cool loading discussion that is lol)

apparently, everyone reloads here. looks like you may have to take your calipers to the gun store and measure one.

Is that really fair? I try to help everyone who need help if I can. Is it really too much to ask when I need help on a very easy question I'm told to go to the store and measure it for myself?

It was an extremely easy question, IF you have a box of factory ammo on hand would you kindly measure the OAL, that's all...

maybe i should have put up the smiley face. i was just suggesting an alternative if you don't get a response in a timely fashion.

i have run a lot of 124gn xtps through my gun, but they have all been reloads.

luck,
