What do people think of "Triple K Brand" magazines? I bought a few of them as extras, in addition to the original mag that came with my Springfield GI 1911.

So far, I think these "Triple K Brand" mags totally suck. They dont slide in as nicely as the original. I've got to slam them in, or else they dont lock.

Anybody else have problems with this brand?

I've only bought Wilson mags so personally, I don't know. I do have a friend that has a huge variety of mags. Triple K mags seem to be just okay...some work, some don't work as well.

My favorite 1911 mags

Kimber series I, 7-rounders, circa 1993ish (Still have a few)

Colt persent-day, 7-rounders (unfortunately only have a few)

Thanks guys.

I was looking for Wilsons, since I've always heard good things about them. But the shop I was at didnt have any, so I got these which they had in stock.

Next time I am at a shop that has Wilsons, I'll pick some up, to compare to what I have.

Sometimes the problem with hard-to-seat magazines is as much the fault of the magazine release as it is the magazine itself. Put a slight bevel on the lip just above the magazine release notch and see if things work a bit better.

Just another vote for Wilson Combat mags...I have used the 8-rounders in a previous Kimber and use them today in my current Springfield Armory...truly top-notch equipment. I've used some of their earlier 7-rounders, too, and they were excellent as well.

Triple-K makes Pro-Mag look good! Trash!

For range use, I've had good luck with the pseudo govt. surplus mags from recent gun shows.

I dont happen to have mag problems in my 1911s, but my buddies all swear by Wilson 47D's...Essex

Start with one of the various kinds you are considering. You'll figure out if your gun likes or hates that particular magazine. Then buy a bunch after a successful range trip.

Don't start out by sinking $100+ into a bunch of magazines your gun has never tried, even if others have sworn (on a stack of Bibles sitting upon their mothers' graves) that they work well in their particular 1911s. Example: some love the Wilsons, others can't get them to work. My gun likes the CMC PowerMags, others don't.

With 1911 magazines, more than most others, YMMV.

Wilson mags are just too expensive. I like MetalForm. Never tried Triple K, though.

I stay away from the Triple K mags as well. I've only ever used one Tripple K 1911 mag and it was junk.

I have had the best luck with Wilson, factory Colt, and Chip McCormick.

Personally, I don't think you can't beat the 7 round Wilsons for reliability. they are as smooth as silk. That being said I have some Mec-Gars I use at the range which have been 100% out of the box. I wouldn't hesitate to trust my life to them.
FWIW
YMMV

McCormick Power Mags seem to have the best balance of price and quality.

Triple K is junk. A local guy said that since they are guaranteed, he just kept sending them back until he got one that worked, but that was for an obsolete gun with magazines available nowhere else.

This is Triple K's only niche as far as I'm concerned. Some I had for a Ruger Mini-14 were useless. The rear of the magazine would drop down and the rifle's bolt would ride over the top of the cartridge case, actually bending the cartridge. And I got them from Brownells, no less. I just had Brownells refund my money.
