Just got my first AR 15 and would like some suggestions on magazines to purchase. Are there different manufacturers that work better with the Rock River Arms guns? Or possibly any that I should avoid? I would welcome any advise that could save me from buying a bunch of stuff that may not work.

Avoid USA brand, triple K, and ProMag. USGI mags with green, or preferably tan, followers (or Magpul anti tilt followers) will work great. I personally prefer Magpul PMags, but also have a bunch of USGI mags w/ Magpul followers.

20rd p-mags worked great in mine. Keep in mind if hunting, alot of states have 5rd cap limits, and the short mags work better while shooting from a rest.

Troy, Lancer, and Brownells offer good quality mags. D&H is a military supplier and can be had inexpensively. ASC is the previous Cproducts mag maker and ok.

If you pick up surplus mags inspect them carefully - no dents, smooth action for the follower, and check the feed lips for the correct spacing and angle. Most cheap gunshow mags in a box are likely damaged or malfunction, nobody seems to care if YOU get a bad one. They just don't want mags THEY know don't work well.

Check out 44mag.com D&H for aluminum mags and PMags for polymer. I'm not saying that they are the only two that work well. I'm just saying that those are what I have and tend to stick with what works for me, so I had no reason to try anything else.
