The LeMat has it's intricacies. The loading lever is on the side of the frame. The ram rod for the center barrel is in the lever handle and well come out on recoil. A slight bend in the ram rod stops that. The spring latch that holds the lever looks very fragile, but has held up so far. The hammer has a very short fall to the center barrel cap, I file/sand the cap thinner for better ignition, so far that has worked. To fire the center barrel you have to flip the nose of the hammer down. It was awkward at first but I'm much more comfortable with it now.

I'm loading 30grs under a 451 rb, the center barrel well take a patched 65cal rb or shot. That's ten rounds loaded. It was the EBR of it's day. A mounted man with two of these would have been devastating to a line of men. From what I have read the center barrel was normally loaded with buck shot and used at point blank range.
