It will probably be another (yawn) 1911. Ruger is sorta known for being behind the curve. Being 100 years behind the curve for a 1911 will be record, even for Ruger.
Regardless of what is releasing or how many recalls will be needed to make it right, you've got to give them credit in creating some buzz for new products.
I didnt expect this, but seeing as I carry my LCP 380 all of the time, I will be getting an LC9. I cant wait to fondle one and I will be putting my name on the waiting list a the local gun shop.
I hope thats not all they have for this year, but its a good start. Now I wonder will it shoot the +P+ ammo my department makes me use...
womp, womp, womp..... I, for one, am very disappointed. I was hoping for a SR45c or a poly 1911. I find my SR9c to be plenty compact, and I will guarantee the LC9 won't shoot as nicely.
They had similar hype last year regarding the release of the SR9c. Oh well. I'm sure I'll fondle one at the gun show and be momentarily swayed. Then I'll go back to drooling over a 4" GP-100. One of these days I'm actually going to buy that damn thing...
At least they didn't inflict another 1911 on an already saturated market.
Let's just say I'm not exactly excited over another cute little pocket automatic either. But that's the market and you can't fault Ruger for keeping new product in that highly popular market.
Not a huge surprise. (I knew it was not going to be a 1911. An email conversion I had with the company's president made it very clear that there will not be a Ruger 1911 in the near future.) I am pleased that it's a "new gun" not just another caliber in an existing caliber.
Can anyone else already hear the KelTec fanboys crying about another copy?
Allow me to be the first to reply to them. "Yeah, it's a bit of a copy BUT (just like the last time) Ruger did it better." That said, I already have a great Kahr 9mm and don't see myself buying one of these for myself.
the 1911 market may be saturated, but i feel that the compact pistol market is also saturated. cant say my heart rate went up any over this......could be a good back up pistol.
If the poly-pistol game "belongs to" KelTec, shouldn't they be better at it? (Just sayin')
Invented the polymer pistol market? I think Glock had polymer pistols invented and pretty well figured out a good bit prior to KelTec. However, I could be wrong about that one; after all, I didn't even know Al Gore invented the Internet.
Comparing a Ruger to a Taurus is just LOL comedy. (KelTec to Taurus....a little closer IMHO) This gun is mostly going to be what the PF9 could have been, just like the LCP is what the P3AT could have been. YMMV. That said, I think we can all agree it would be better without the manual safety and especially the magazine disconnnect.
I don't know if that's "The next handgun I must own" like Ruger claims, but I'll probably check it out. It would be more comforting to have a 7+1 9mm rather than 6+1 .380 as my "everywhere, everytime" gun if it carries as invisibly as the P3AT.
