A few weeks ago, (I think it was here) I saw a post inquiring whether a Cap and Ball revolver could be fitted for 209 primers. At the time I wondered why anybody would want such a thing. (and I still do)

But I did come across an article in a May 1961 Guns and Ammo (page 59) of a revolver that was altered to fire 177 pellets loaded in the front of the chambers and used large rifle primers as both the ignition and propellant. The author called the gun, the 17 Tucker Pooper.

The conversion of the CF revolver was accomplished by fitting a new barrel and sleeving the cylinder chambers with home made cartridge adapters.

Along a similar note, I recently looked at the web site and checked out the Kirst 22 Rf converter. I was wondering if I could design a similar system to convert my 44 C&B to a 22 cap and ball revolver. It would seem that cylinder sleeves could be slip fit in the chambers if a barrel insert had a wide face to hold the sleeves in place. So perhaps a second cylinder cut back a half or 3/4 inch and a barrel insert with a wide face to hold the sleeves in place.
