Last week I felt the urge to shoot some bp and found that I had about 30 total caps left. nobody in town sells precussion caps so, I decided to go down to academy in el paso(since their phone line wasn't working) and stock up. I didn't see any right off the bat so I asked one of the workers and got the response- "Yeah so may people use 209 primers now that nobody really carries them anymore".
My homemade caps slightly work in my revolver, so I starded thinking about how to convert my bp guns to 209 ignition. I know they sell a conversion kit but how hard could it be to machine a 209 nipple out of a bolt or something? Has anyone done it for a revolver?

There's a UK company that makes specialty conversion revolvers that use smokeless powder and a 209 primer. However for the price a lot of percussion caps could be purchased instead.

385 GBP equals $588 USD
550 GBP equals $839.78 USD

Your Revolver can be converted, or a new pistol provided, ready converted to your specifications.

The conversion consists of a new Two part Stainless Steel cylinder. The front part has a forward chamber for the bullet with a reduced diameter for the Nitro powder charge. A small flash hole is drilled into the rear primer pocket, which takes a Shotgun Primer. Current production cylinders have longditudinal lightening flutes as shown on the Ruger below.

The Chambers will be bored out to suit the caliber of your Barrel, however on the .38 version, the Barrel is replaced with a Stainless Steel Target grade Barrel of 1 in 10 twist and the Cylinder made to accept .38 Wadcutter bullets. A Loading press can be provided to load wadcutter Bullets off the gun.

Cost of conversion, retaining old barrel £ 385.00

Cost of .38 Nitro Conversion including new Barrel £ 550.00

I contacted these folks not too long ago and the biggest hurdle, besides the cost, is trying to get the parts to and from the UK. There is almost no way to do it....
