For those of you out of 22lr go to midway USA website they got some fed. Aquila and eley in stock.

For those of you looking to stock pile for your doomsday bfs. (PREPERS,SHTF, BLAW BLAW BLAW). Pls stay away from it and let the ppl still enjoying the life we have left get some ammo too. Thanks!!!!!

So they have ammo at almost double the price it should be and that's a good thing? I admit they were the cheapest I have seen online, $35 a brick for Aquila, but that same ammo was $20 in November and Midway's cost has not gone up that much. I will just let people keep paying the exhorbitant prices and use my supply for a year before I buy any more. By then I HOPE it is back to $25 or less.

So you broadcast it on the internet?

It was already on the internet. Gunbot, Ammoseek and Midway's site all had the advertised price.

My local mom n' pop has a few 525 round boxes of Remington Gold Bullet at $22/box. Yes, they only have a few boxes (and no, I didn't take one) but it is a good sign.

Local gunshop here had 2k boxes of Federal 325 bulk packs for $20. Not the cheapest, but not bad. They seem to get shipments in every few days.

Only thing in stock today that I see is a $53 brick of Winchester. No thanks.

There is no way i'm paying $50+ for a brick of 22LR.

The insanity has to stop at some point.

My guess is the real price for a 500 round brick of 22lr is around $50 but that could be too high of a guess. I would not consider a $50 brick overpriced considering the demand pressures put on 22lr.

As of today Walmart showed the price to be $21 for a bulk pack but of course they didn't have any. The girl that got my ammo for me said they get in a few boxes 3 times each week but they are generally gone before they even get into the display case. I did buy 3 100ct boxes of Federal 9mm for $21.37 each but that's the first time in a long time I have seen much 9mm. They had 7 boxes when I walked up and all 7 were gone by the time I checked out. I got 3 and two other guys got the other two. They had NO MORE handgun ammo at all.

It's not nearly as insane as CTD trying to get .30/round for it.

I just (literally less than 5 minutes ago) hit Midway and snagged two bricks of Federal 40gr LRN for $38/brick. By the time I paid shipping it ended up being just over .10/round. Yes I know that you could buy it for $22/brick in November, but it's still cheap compared to the prices you see on gunbroker or at local shows.

I felt lucky to get it.

There's .22 ammo poping up on MidwayUSA fairly often now. However, due to the high cost of shipping ammo, its just not worthwhile to buy from them until they lift their 1 box limit.

Early on I think the hoarders caused the shortage and then the flippers realized there was good money to be made. Once the flippers get out of the business the hoarders will take over and keep supplies tight. That is probably already happening to a degree. Once the hoarders have all they can afford then the guys like me that shoot a lot will jump in and lay in enough to make sure they get through the next panic which basically will make me a hoarder. I don't think there is really a definition for an ammo hoarder since it is a disposable item and what may seem like hoarding to some is just a normal supply to me. For most shooters 20k rounds of 22 ammo is hoarding.
This process could take a year on .22LR because, even at $40 a brick it is still cheaper than any other factory ammo. I think the flippers are already losing some interest as Gunbroker prices have fallen like a rock in the past two weeks and are down to around $50 a brick.

My top dollar price on bulk 22 LR is $25. If it gets below that then I will buy 10k-20k rounds and put it in reserve. If it stays above that price for another year then I will either slack off shooting .22 or I will have to pony up and pay the man.

I see your point and won't argue, but - for me - .10/round isn't that terrible. Certainly not when compared to the prices the ummm... entrepeneurs are asking on gunbroker.

I suspect that the days of sub-nickel-per-round .22lr are never coming back.

I agree completely! Especially if you shoot a couple of hundred rounds a month it is still great for plinking. I certainly hope you are wrong on the nickel guess but I suspect you are probably correct. I bought 6,000 rounds or Armscor 22LR online in December and paid $.0385 per round including shipping. That was all they had in stock or I would have bought 25,000.

Right now, 10¢ a round for good stuff (CCI, Winchester, Federal. Not Remington Golden Bullets) would be my limit, but that's with tax and shipping. As far as I can see, with shipping of $18 per order MidwayUSA hasn't got any .22LR in stock that I can buy one box at a time for that price.

They do actually have some .22 in stock, though, which is a huge improvement over nothing. Maybe soon they'll be able to meet my self-imposed spending limit? ;)

The winchester 22lr in stock at midway is priced 50$ a brick if you read what it is you'll see its a new bullet style that they just came out with . A 42 grain max bullet. I'm sorry I said anything about them having anything in stock. I also don't see there were everyone says there price gouging.

The really bad part of all this is I thought I was hoarding when bought up about 10k rounds "before" the Sandy Hook situation. I never dreamed it would get this bad. And what really, really bites my backside is the gun grabbers are loving every minute of this. I thought I had enough to get through the election of Obama panic. I didn't expect another mass shooting to bring on a panic 3 times as bad as the 2009 ordeal or maybe even worse than that.

I can buy pretty much everything I need now except .22 That burns my rear too. The ammo I really want to shoot a lot is the hardest to find. That's opposite of what happened in 2009 too.

We can't seem to win for losing lately. At least i can't. I know I could shoot more than I do but who knows when this will all end. I need ammo to practice with. I need ammo to help my wife prepare for her CCW class. Too bad I guess. I did borrow a nice Buck Mark so I could shoot up what cheap ammo I do have. I won't have to find centerfire ammo for her to practice anyway.

the only 22lr ammo midway has in stock is the expensive target ammo. and i am not willing to pay that much for it. i can reload and shoot centerfire ammo for less. which i do. but it is rather ridiculous. you can buy as much "cheap" 22lr ammo as you would ever want to buy, at gunbroker. but you have to pay 3-4 times the price it normally sells for to get it. so this leads me to believe that this so called ammo shortage, is a lot like the silver scheme of the late 1980's. where a couple of people bought it all up, and then sold it for crazy prices. which eventually ended up getting the government involved. that will not happen here, because the government hates any and everything to do with firearms. so anything that keeps people from shooting, is a good thing to them.

IM not buying those high prices. Let the latecomers to the gun world scoop them up.

Its always someone elses fault isn't. Heaven forbid one would take responsibility for their faliure to secure ammo for their needs. No its easier to blame others and while people are doing that others decided to just get to work to secure the ammo they needed. The people who have been complaining are still complaining 7 months later and those who didn't are at the range.
