sm,
The FS model is a somewhat rare model that was cobbled together by Marlin for some of the bigger chain sporting goods stores like Dunhams, Gander Mountain and the like. It s a blued, synthetic stock with Williams FireSights (fiber optic front and rear. Hence the FS) It was never listed as part of Marlins everyday offerings. I picked mine up on sale for $129.
Mine happens to love the CCI mini-mags and the Federal 810’s.
The DL is definitely a right purdy .22. I haven’t had a chance to handle one yet.
Only "Plastic" gun I ever cared for , the Nylon 66, the butt fed one - no mags to mess with.
Yep, got one of those too.
The Marlin 60 fits me and has proven to be accurate. I have folks that use these with a few "tweaks", for instance Mine has the heavy reciever, so they pin the some of the older ones( 60's) to help with harmonics. Adjust triggers a bit and such.
I have cleaned up the trigger on my 60 but have not reduced the pull as of yet. For me clean is good. I haven’t had enough experience with super light triggers to realize I need one.
- I never cared for all that anal stuff. I was not taught to do that. Gun fit to shooter, and learn to shoot. Read the wind, find good ammo for that gun. Plus it is too fun to outshoot someone with a stock gun , over their high dollar toys and no skills. Marlin 60 DL, 870 pump,, Model 12, Ithaca 37's Model 94 in 30-30, Gov't Model 1911 in .45 ACP , Model 10....etc.
Apparently we have similar collections. Winchester 94 in 30-30, two 870’s (12 &20) Marlin 60, Nylon 66, 1911… I’m willing to bet there’s a Ruger Mark II somewhere in your safe… all are pretty much bone stock. Only additions are a scope on the .22's (no more than 4X) and some FO sights on the 870's.
No carbon fiber barrels, thumbhole stocks, high dollar internals, 9-300 X 55 telescopes, bipods, ...
