Looking for suggestions on a 22 plinker fun gun to run suppressed.

Ones in currently looking at:
Walther P22, PPK/s 22, Sig P322. I'm sure there's plenty others out there I'm over looking.

I can't say why, but I'm not particularly interested in something like a Ruger MK series. Not particularly interested in the Taurus offerings either for different reasons.

I don't really have a set budget, but do have other projects in the mix to allocate funds for.

I know I like the ergos of the P22, I already carry a P365 so that'd be nice to match with the P322, and I've watched enough old Bond movies to enjoy the PPK/s just for that alone.

What are y'all experiences with the aforementioned, and what all models have I missed?

ruger sr22. it has the ergonomics of the walther p22 without the latter’s unreliability. i believe that the sr22 can be had with a threaded barrel. i put 600 (500 cci blazer, 100 cci minimag) rounds through mine yesterday after 400 rounds last friday, no cleaning. the sr22 ran like a sewing machine from start to finish. my lifetime round count with the sr22 is likely 15,000 rounds. the only things i’ve done to it is add more magazines and shoot it more.

Is the new version of the PPK/s available with a threaded barrel? My wife has an early one and it has been very dependable, only stopping with a dud round. It looks like her real PPK/s, weights about the same. etc. It is a HV gun only though which should make no difference suppressed. The P22 had a lot of problems early although I owned one for a time and it was good. My #2 grandson now has it and it is still good. I actually like the feel of the P22 over the PPK/s but that is a personal preference.

You didn't mention the Ruger SR22 which feels almost identical to the P22 in my hand. Is it available with a threaded barrel? If so that would be my pick as mine has been bulletproof as long as it's loaded with HV ammo.

All of the new current PPK/s's come with a threaded barrel, but you need an adapter (same one as the P22's actually).

I only hadn't mentioned the SR22 because I forgot about them! It looks like they are available threaded too. Certainly worth a look.

The S&W M&P compact 22 has a threaded barrel which uses an adapter. I suspect that many of the semi auto 22s made currently have these, as the barrel is little more than a small tube inside a sleeve with a nut that tensions the barrel. Replace the nut with the adapter (some even include the adapter) and you are in business.

If you like the new Walther PPK/s, before you decide check out some of its classic predecessors at Simpsons: https://simpsonltd.com/search-results-page?q=pp 22

Those certainly look pretty nice, but they'd blow my entire budget, before having them threaded. Plus the older style of magazines are pricey.

How about S&W Victory? Or Beretta Neos? I've never owned either, but I'd love to own either one.

I don't belive either of those are available factory threaded either.

Maybe give second thoughts to a Ruger SR-22. They can be had with a threaded barrel ready to go. I've had my non-threaded barrel for years, and taught my girls how to shoot with one. Very reliable.

The Walther has 17 lb. pull trigger!

I have an original Walther pp 32. ACP and bought a ppk 22 thinking "plinker" just not the same and sold it. Bought a TX22 and they're one of the best guns Taurus has ever made but they're no Sign now I have a p322 it's awesome as a plinker.
I've held an SR22 and if the safety worked like every other frame mounted safety I own I may have stopped looking long ago.

I own two Walther P22s, and the only problem I've had is the front sight fell off the older one. Luckily it came with 2 extra sights to adjust the POI.
The S&W Victory 22 is awesome, it makes it hard to miss.
Ruger LCP 22 is a lot of fun, but not as easy to shoot as the larger guns.
The Neos I have is pretty good, but I don't care for the sights. You can mount an optic on them though.
My Taurus TX22 is probably the best shooter next to the SW22V.
I've shot a friend's Ruger SR22 and really liked it. I need to get one someday.

But supposedly a decent single action trigger, which is what would be getting used for %99 of my plinking.

Yep, very good single action trigger on the PPKs, I have only pulled the trigger once in double action. One thing to keep in mind, at least with the PPKs is that they (mine at least) needs HV .22 ammo. It really likes CCI Stingers and mini mags for accuracy and cycling so if you are planning on running subsonic stuff for a whisper quiet suppressed gun, this is not the one to get.

This is good to know. I kind of assume any semi auto might not run quite right with SV ammo, but know some are more tolerant than others.

I keep seeing more and more positive reviews of the Taurus TX22 Competition and my aversion is starting to wane. I like that it's a threaded barrel that dosen't need an extra collar to mount my can. The price point certainly dosen't hurt either.

in my own experience with one, the beretta neos is too heavy and large to serve as a fun plinker. it’s a well-made pistol for sure, but not something i enjoyed lugging around so i sold mine without regret.

2 XTX22.jpg IMG_3715 (1).JPG Browning .22.JPG Sig P322.JPG A .22 Pistols.jpg The BERSA T22 is a look a like for a PPK and it's very sturdy and accurate. Probably a good deal less money than a PPK, but I can't remember what I paid for it. You'll note I have the BERSA older model 223 .22 also. Being something of a .22 collector, I have two TX22's and a Sig P322. I had problems with the Sig and sent it back for repairs. They sent it back in NINE day's and it hasn't malfunctioned once since. Fast turn around. The Ruger SR22 and S&W .22 Compact are both very good guns. For accuracy nothing beats my Ruger MKII 6 7/8 inch Target. There are so many good .22 handguns out there it would be hard to say "This is the one!" .

I'm mostly soliciting suggestions for handguns other than the Ruger MK's as I know I'll end up with one again anyways in addition to whichever I'll pick this time around.

I think right now I'm leaning towards the P322 or TX22 Competition.

Mini mags probably won't go supersonic from that short of barrel.
