23 State Attorneys General To Attorney General Holder: "No Semi-Auto Ban"

Do we have a political science student to add up how many electoral college votes, or House of Representative votes are controlled by those 23 states?

No surprises here folks

Lisa Madigan (D-Gun Grabber) AG of Illinois is nowhere to be seen either.

She and her Daddy Mike, the speaker of the Illinois House, are both big time gun control freaks and best buddies with Richie Daley. They don't want those peons getting uppity ideas about their real status in life.

Besides she has to get ready to run for Governor next year and pad her $8 million campaign fund, contributed to by a lot of people that got contracts from Daddy. What a remarkable coincidence, huh?

That's why Daddy decided to run Blago out of town and put Quinn, the human sock puppet, in office as a place holder. That way Quinn raises the income tax by 50% to cover an $8 Billion budget deficit and Lisa steps in as the savior of the state's budget, after the tax increase is passed.

They have been trying to cram an AWB through the legislature for four years now. The stopping point has been the downstate Dems.

If you want to know what the US is going to look like in another year or two, look at Illinois. All Dems in all the offices being run by crooked politicians from Chicago.

Not that I want to be the cynic in the back,..... but will this make any difference? I hope it does, I'm just not holding my breath. :uhoh:

The difference that it will make is that it will remind the administration that pushing for gun control now may well risk the Democrat majorities Obama enjoys now.

Indiana is missing too. There may be upwards of 30 or more states that should be on this list...maybe version 2.0 of the letter?

Big Block O' States

Reordering the states by geography . . .

There is a large contiguous block of states represented:
Idaho - The Honorable Lawrence G. Wasden
Montana - The Honorable Steve Bullock
Wyoming - The Honorable Bruce A. Salzburg
North Dakota - The Honorable Wayne Stenehjem
South Dakota - The Honorable Lawrence Long
Nevada - The Honorable Catherine Cortez Masto
Utah - The Honorable Mark L. Shurtleff
Colorado - The Honorable John W. Suthers
Nebraska - The Honorable Jon Bruning
Kansas - The Honorable Steve Six
Missouri - The Honorable Chris Koster
Oklahoma - The Honorable W.A. Edmonson
Arkansas – The Honorable Dustin McDaniel
Texas - The Honorable Greg Abbott
Louisiana - The Honorable James D. Caldwell
Notably absent are Arizona and New Mexico.

And a smaller block of contiguous states:
Alabama - The Honorable Troy King
Georgia - The Honorable Thurbert E. Baker
South Carolina - The Honorable Henry McMaster
Florida - The Honorable Bill McCollum
Notably absent are Tennessee and Mississippi.

If we had those two, we'd have a much larger continuous block.

And a few orphans:
Wisconsin – The Honorable J.B. Van Hollen
Michigan - The Honorable Mike Cox
Kentucky - The Honorable Jack Conway
New Hampshire - The Honorable Kelly A. Ayotte
Sorry, guys.

Interesting data for anyone contemplating moving . . .

23 able to take a stand is fantastic! My state is not on there, and we will be lucky if 23 don't sign something SUPPORTING the ban. However, I'll bet there are a lot of non-committal fence straddlers that won't sign either list. That is good, especially when almost half could and did take a positive stand. Hurray for the "free" states of the union.......

I am surprised I don't see Greg on there. I am gonna be up there tomorrow maybe I should stop in and ask him what the heck is up.

I am a little surprised Alaska isn't on that list, as Governor Palin just received a very neat AR from the NRA.

Perhaps its because she is Alaska's governor, and the letter was from state Attorney Generals. As they are elected independently, governors and attorney generals don't always see eye-to-eye.

I posted a dupe link - sorry!

I think this is great. It just adds more powerful authorities to our side.

Remember back to the Clanton years and the overall momentum the anti-gun movement had gained in the last forty years - to think that 23 AG's would write a letter like this was unthinkable.

But, in 2009, 23 AG's did write this letter.

I'm shocked and happy as can be. We are winning and we are winning BIG IMHO. :D

Why do they keep writing to Holder? He doesn't make the laws.
Why did they write to Holder? Likely because he's their counterpart in the admin, and they wanted to get a letter written.

After all, it's a little hard for the admin/CongressCritters to state that LE is clamoring for a new ban when dang near half the state AGs just told you that it doesn't help.

i wonder why my state attorney general, ANDREW M CUOMO, from NEW YORK is not on that list, oh well, i just sent him a letter

I agree. I just hope it keeps up long enough for us to get rid of that stinking pile of unconstitutional crap that started it all, the NFA.
The main problem we have in achieving that isn't the anti-gun people, it's the FUDD gun owners who think a hunting rifle is plenty and nobody "needs" a machine gun...:banghead:

Roy Cooper needs to get on the ball, but he is a Democrat who has higher political goals. The only decent thing he ever did was drop the charges against the Duke players.

I guess it is time for us that live in NC to remind him if he wants to go further in Politics he will need support from the people that live here and do not want a ban ;)

It surprises my that Jack Conway of Kentucky would be on that list. He is a young and upcoming socialist. I am glade to see my state represented, we do after all host the largest machine gun shoot in the country........:D

Glad to see Mike Cox is on the list. As soon as we send Jenny Granholm back to Ontario, hopefully Michigan see's the light and puts Mr. Cox into the Governor's mansion in Lansing.

HoosierQ!!! We both know the "Keep Indiana Blue" counsel are fighting tooth and nail to keep things like this from happening, part of the reason they are trying to run Mitch Daniels out of office in the next election
