Hmm I bet it would be similar to the 100gr Barnes TTSX... I actually have a factory box of that stuff from Barnes that I really don't want to shoot until I get some bullets from them. Cause a 100gr copper .257 bullet should be a decent bullet. I haven't seen the 90gr Hornady ones yet either...
I asked their tech line about it, and they told me it measures close to the same length as the 110 interlock. I was worried about stabilizing it(with the what I thought at the time) with a 1:12.5 twist rate. As it turns out it’s 1:10; so I’m going to try em. I talked to a guy that ran em this last deer season. I think they have tapped an alloy that will be a force to be reckoned with! I saw a picture of one of his bullets. It was a beautiful mushroom! Like they should look!

270OKIE, I also live in Oklahoma. In November I sold my last 25-06 at the gunshow in Tulsa so I am out of the 25-06 business. However, I have several reloading items that I will sell and you may be interested in some of them at a fair price. I live west of Tulsa but I come to Oklahoma City once in a while. Let me know if you are interested and if you are we can plan a meeting. It would be worth your time.

Sierra ProHunter bullets 117 grain
Speer HotCor bullets 120 grain

Hmm... sounds like we both will have some experiments to do! I'll try to find some of the Barnes and Hornady copper bullets...

Ooh I do like Speer soft point bullets! And reloader 19 and 22 sound interesting... I have never used any of the Reloader series though. Can you take pics of you stuff and DM me if you want? I'm definitely interested but I'd have to see how much you want for all of it.

Just checked Chattanooga and they have some of the Barnes and Hornady copper bullets and they also have Nosler silvertip, and Berger 135gr bullets. I also saw they had the Berger 133gr hunting optimized bullets too. It has a bigger cavity/hollow point but a slightly lower ballistic coefficient, but I'll stick with the 135s for now.

I use another forum called Long Range Hunting Forum and on January 25th I will start listing various components on their Reloading Equipment and Components section. People who are interested can send me a message on that forum and I will respond. Bullets will be shipped in USPS flat rate packages. Powder will have to be picked up locally. These items will sell fast so I want to give you a heads up that they will be listed.

Sierra Gameking 117 grain - 3 new unopened boxes
Sierra ProHunter 117 grain - 2 new unopened boxes
Speer HotCor 120 grain - 3 new unopened boxes
Reloader 19 - 5 pound container
Reloader 22 - 5 pound container
H 4350 - two 1 pound containers

Oh ok, I don't get paid till the end of the month as I currently work for a school district as a diesel mechanic so I'll have to wait till then to offer to buy anything. But I'd be willing to meet up somewhere near you though.

I have a Mauser M1996 Straight Pull .25-06 with a Meopta 4-14 x50 scope on it that shoot the Sierra Pro hunter 117 bullets into little 3/4" clusters at 100 yards and just over an inch at 200 yards from a rifle sled. I have yet to take a deer or antelope but did take a 200 pound pig at 370 yards off a Jeep hood this spring.FWIW I developed that load for my old Single shot heavy barreled Savage 112V used as a coyote gun on the same big ranch many years back.I like .25-06 up thru deer at any reasonable ranges and it is too choice with .264 win mag for antelope or other goats.

I would have been interested in some of those 117 pro hunters, if I didnt already have about 700 of them. It is a fine bullet, and discontinued as well.

I found they are more accurate in the two guns I've shot it in, both with 1-10" twist , than the Sierra Boattails for some odd reason ! I think the choice of the quicker twist ordered for that barrel may be a good one if you want to use over 115 grain .257 bullets . If lead 100 grain ones shoot very well then you are golden. I shot 75 grain Bergers in the old Savage 112V since the late 80s , mostly as I shot lots of ground squirrel with it on windy days . I made up the 117 Pro Hunter loads in the 90s for the odd Blacktail deer, pig or even coyote we saw out on hills 400-700 yards distant, but not many of them were shot thru that old Savage J series.

270OKIE, seems to be a fair amount of 25-06 fans here, and I'm one of them. I gave a good friend's son my Ruger MkII 25-06 about 7 years ago, so, I'm currently out of the game.
Just wanted to add that wood stock you're putting on yours looks damn nice. I don't believe I have anyhting left for 25-06, but, I'll look around later.

Thanks! Yeah idk if I said it already or not but it is a factory new old stock (haha) Remington BDL stock. Saw one on GunBroker for cheaper than a Boyds so I figured I'd take a chance on it. And it has a brown Remington butt pad on it so it is indeed factory.

Ive been looking for a decent factory take of to open up and drop my Ridgeline into, Remington factory stocks fit and feel fantastic to me once a squishy pad is added.
I still havent gotten into a 25-06, ive had a .250AI and a .257s roberts tho and really liked/like both......perhaps after tinkering with either another .264 and/or a 7PRC ill try a fast twist 25-06 also!

Sounds like a plan to me! Between, you, JmacD and I, we should be able to single handedly buy up all the 257 bullets in existence!

Yeah I noticed academy has started getting a box or two here and there of Hornady 117gr BTSP .257 bullets... But I'm pretty interested in the copper stuff now that you starting talking about them. I do feel you on the $$$ part lol!

If I could drive and live in my reloading bench, I could spend so much more money on it……

I shot two white tails with the Barnes Vor-TX 100 gr TTSX in .25-06 this year. One at 60 yards and one at 180 yards. Both shots through the chest cavity hitting no major bones. Neither took a single step. That 100 gr TTSX is a fantastic bullet in the .25-06. There is even a member here, JimKirk, who is using the 80 gr TTSX in .25-06 with fantastic results.

My rifle is just a 22" barrel. That 100 gr TTSX should be even better from you 26" barrel.

I asked their tech line about it, and they told me it measures close to the same length as the 110 interlock. I did not recover either of the TTSX bullets, but the wound channel was different than what I've seen from lead bullets. I could see the X shape of the expanded bullet in the lungs of one of the deer. The would channel looks more like an arrow, but the deer reacts like it's been shot with a bullet.

I went to Chattanoogashooting.com because the price you posted for the 100 gr TTSX is very, very good. I can find the bullets, but they don't show any prices and there doesn't seem to be a way to put any in a cart. Is this a member only thing?

I'm sorry, I should have clarified that they are a wholesale FFL only site.(Dad and I have a home FFL) However, they are the wholesale side of Natchez Shooting Supplies which is open to anyone. I apologize, I'm sorry to get your hopes up. But check the Natchez site and see what they show in stock. I've noticed they will have stuff that won't be in stock on the FFL site oddly enough.
Edit, for whatever reason, Natchez has literally only two bullets in stock at this time, so I checked Powder Valley and they list a couple options for .257 bullets at pretty much the same price as Chattanooga lol. They also get Privi Partizan bullets and brass often, if your into that thing.

I’m a big fan of the quarter bores.
Got three, but not .25/06.
A .25-36Marlin, .257Roberts custom, and a Weatherby Vanguard.257wbymag.

My best friend has a Interarms MkX in .25/06.
With the now discontinued 117gr BtHpt GameKing, it’ll shoot 1-hole at 100yds with 43.0gr of IMR4320 (also discontinued!). Fortunately he has plenty of both.

For hunting to replace the Sierra, I suggest the Berger 115gr VLD Hunting. It’s a bit more explosive than the Sierra.

From the pricing and discontinued bullets, Sierra appears to be trying to go broke!

I see from a MidSouthShootersSupply email that they have just received a big dump of Speer bullets. My current replacement for Sierra’s.
