Shooting 3gun involves carrying a lot of gear, including stuff beyond just your rifle, pistol, shotgun and a box or two of ammo, to include all the regular stuff- eye and ear protection, a pile of magazines, magazine carriers, shotgun shell carriers, score sheets, sun block, water, ...

If I couldn't carry all of that plus a tent, sleeping pad, E-tool, 2 days worth of meals, loaded individual first aid kit, while wearing body armor goggles and a kevlar helmet then I would have made a poor soldier... They don't issue us carts my friend.

Also, some matches may or may not have a rule requiring that long guns must be cased or otherwise safely carried when brought to the line.

I can see how that could cause some issues at times.

Carrying gear from a car to a shooting position isn't going to keep you in shape.

That's why I go to Crossfit.

Of course it won't if that's the only exercise you get, however it can only help add to a solid base of physical fitness. It certainly won't hurt anything other than maybe your reputation on the 3gun range when everyone else with caddys and carts sees you humping your gear in like you're going to war :p

Like I said, the stuff isn't heavy, but it does require being organized. Some people find that the three-wheeled carts work well for this. Some people carry their guns in cases slung over their shoulder and throw the rest of the stuff in a standard range bag.

YMMV.

You should go shoot Iron Man in the Trooper Division. :)

I've shot 3Gun since '03 or so and have been match director for various 3Gun, MG, and LR matches since 2006. I don't care what systems people use to carry all their gear; however, there are no "allowances" for safety infractions.

At matches where "strollers", carts, and wagons are prevalent, there are more muzzle infractions (unsafe muzzle direction) than elsewhere and those infractions are almost categorically committed by the stroller/cart/wagon crowd.

Carts do not necessitate poor gun handling - it just happens to turn out that way. For this reason, I am against their use. For a typical rifle or 2 gun stage (rifle/pistol), I'll just throw everything I need in the pockets or main compartment of my AR case (with my rifle in it). If I need shotgun, I'll grab that case too. There's no need to haul more junk from your vehicle than you need to shoot the stage anyway.

And they tend to suck pretty bad when it's muddy. Here's some abandoned (or in bad shape) carts at Tiger Valley

I attended a local 3gun match today and opted to use my Eberlestock pack. It worked very well, even with the shotgun scabbard being shorter than I would prefer.

I have a jogging stroller that I converted into a shooting cart. I typically only use it for sporting clays though. Carrying two or three o/u and a couple hundred rounds of 12 ga starts to suck about station 4. ;)

How many hard working gun bearers have you shmucks put out of a job by purchasing these "gun carts" and sending your money over to red China?

(Sarcasm Purple)

Now that's a man's sport, one where you use a stroller and shoot. I spent many a decade in the military and remember the high speed operators always had a stroller full of guns in every fight.

Oh, Wal-Mart sell an umbrella that clamps to the handle. They sell them for folding chairs usually. Since tacticool shooting is going the way of SASS, start relaxing. If you are gonna stroll you might as well have comfort too.

Yes, I'm teasing a bit. As I get older I'm starting to wish for something to haul my gear in as well.

That's pretty funny coming from a Bullseye shooter. :p
