3 inch revolvers - I admit I am sick and powerless to control my weakness

I'm more a fan of fixed sights, but that is nice.

I like those pretty woods grips. They look like they'd fill the hand quite nicely.

Walkalong,

Tell me more about that Bulldog. I have a jones for a 3" .44 Special.

It is one of the new company's guns, or from the previous era. And how's it holding up for you?

Ken, you IDIOT !!!

Don't you know that admitting your addiction is the 1st step to overcoming it????????

You need to recant NOW, so as not to lose your addictio, uh, I mean, fondness for 3-inchers.

Traded for it maybe 20 years ago. I got it for ratshot and snakes, but found out it is very accurate with lead bullets, which is all it has seen with me. It has held up fine, but I don't shoot it a great deal either. The ejector rod likes to loosen up, and one of the screws as well. Just have to keep an eye on them. The trigger is surprisingly nice in both single and double action. Very controllable in DA. It is not a Smith or Colt, but it does the job. The trigger was originally grooved, but I rounded and polished it for DA shooting. I like it for SA as well though. I still have the original wood grips, but at 21 oz (IIRC), the Pachmyars are much more comfy.

I had a 3" 657 for a short time, but I just didn't like it, so I traded it. If I had known about your [strike]addiction[/strike] fondness for 3" guns at the time......

My favorite 3" of all time . . . even more so than my Model 65. To shoot it, is to understand . . . and Smith wouldn't make it back "in the day," so this one started out as a 6 1/2" target revolver. I've won many a match with this slick handling wheelgun . . .

I understand. My addiction is to 7-8" barrel, SA revolvers. Someone in God's "birthing department" clearly screwed up. I should have been born about 165 years ago.

I'm in the three inch club, too. Mine's a Model 13.

Two I let get away were a square butt S&W Model 36 and a Colt Detective Special. I'm trying to talk the lady next door into selling me her three inch Colt Dick Special.

ECS

Love the gun/grip combo ECS. I know some people think the grips are hideous, but that combo reeks of practicality. If ever there was a "tactical" revolver, that would be it.

You people are all SICK. My advise is to take 2 aspirin and go to the gun shop.

Elm Creek Smith: I have not seen those Bianchi Lightning grips in a long time. Nice !
Im sure I have some in a box somewhere....Instant hammerless. I recall them for J/K frame RB and Colt 1911, back in the day.

A defensive shooting school instructor carrying a revolver? Naw, can't be.

I heard those were outdated relics from a bygone era. Capacity is all that matters these days, don't cha know?

Sam and I shot the Model 10 tonight. Damn. I can't get over how accurate this little 3" gun is. Oh, and Sam's pretty damn good with his 629, too.

Yeah, a lot of my students are surprised by that as well. I shoot that gun as well as any other handgun I own and I'm confident in my ability to use it. That means a lot to me.

I've tried to set up a "revolver only" class, but I can't find enough students to fill it! I usually get a couple wheel gunners when I run the standard Michigan CPL class, but so far none of the students in my advanced class have run a revolver.

"This is a S&W revolver, not as clumsy or as random as an auto, but an elegant weapon for a more civilized age."

Trebor, what are the grips on the 65? Me likes.

I'm not sure. They came with another used 65 I bought and I put them on this gun.

I can't remember if they are marked inside. Next time I have them off I'll check.

They are great grips, btw. The fill the space behind the trigger guard well so they are pretty comfortable. They are hard plastic so they don't stick to your shirt like rubber grips can.

Shhhh! You're going to blow the cover on your "sleeper" 3" bullseye gun! :)

TACK...DRIVER.

Please stop. I have a 2" M38 and a 4" Model 13-1. My 13 is the most accurate and my favorite gun to shoot by far. My M38 Im pleased with the way it shoots just not quite as much as the 4". My problem is I have a Glock 26 that is suppose to be the cats meow but just doesnt hand accuracy wise as my wheelguns. I am trying my best to keep from a 3" SP101 I figure accuracy and comfort. Please stop posting pictures of these works of art. Revolvers are so yesterday lets leave them there. I am trying here oh dang Im checking into rehab. We are trying to pay off debt and are expecting I cant buy another gun right now.

That is precisely why I hate rubber grips for carry. They grab at fabric and hold onto it.

Rubber also gets slippery when wet. Ever get blood on a set of Pachmayr's? Or grab onto a set with wet hands, like when it's raining out? Wood works much better when my hands are wet, or even bloody. In fact, the sharper the checkering on the wood, the more it grabs the flesh when the hands are wet.
