Got a box of X-treme plated 30 carbine 110g bullets. I know you can't push these being plated over about 1500fps, but fmj 110g w/H110/296 is running about 1900-2000fps. Haven't used H110 much but know you shouldn't load it down below minimums.

What powders are you guys using to load plated for 30 Carbine? Can't find any info in my books without it being fmj and H110/296.

These would just be plinking bullets to have some fun. I know about trimming 30 carbine each time to spec and such, just don't know what to do to load down to plated bullet specs...

Thanks guys! Happy New Year.. Shoot a bunch!!!

Lyman's 49th has some 30 carbine lead loads that would work. They have loads for Unique, 2400, IMR-4227, N110, SR-7625, SR-4756, and AA1680.

"...trimming 30 carbine each time..." Been loading .30 Carbine for 35 or more years and have yet to need to trim any of 'em.
Anyway, this very subject has come up in the past. Go here. Don't use plated bullet myself.

Really? You have never had to trim .30 carbine brass? You must have one shot out carbine barrel then! lol I have seen carbine brass grow 8-10 1/1000's on a resizing. The straight tapered wall of the carbine brass stretches more then almost any other type of brass I have ever seen. Seeing as how the round headspaces on the case mouth you better make sure it isn't too long before you reload it

Mine stretch everytime... I trim them back to max oal.. They usually are .002-.005 thousands beyond max. I get a stray one that may be more, but for the most part, that's what I find, everytime..

Some of mine stretch, some of 'em dont. The carbine carrying a rep for being somewhat finicky, i check them every time. (Mine has never hiccuped, but i read that they could be picky)
My favorite is H110, but 4227 comes in a close second.

I recently got a USGI Inland M1 Carbine. I loaded up 100 rounds on once fired Prvi Partisan brass. I was careful with OAL, but didn't think of just the length of the case. I am new to this round, and forgot it headspaces in the case mouth. I suspect the cases are slightly too long. I am going to have a gunsmith check the headspace also. Lessons learned! They are fun rifles!

My last few outings I have used Lil Gun powder and really like it. I get the velocity with lower pressure and it burns clean.
I normally have to trim the cases a little.

I haven't used any plated through my rifles just yet but did run 10 through my Blackhawk just to see how they shot.

I would say to give the 2400 a try or maybe some AA-5, 7, or 9. At least with those you can work with a wider range than with 296, and if you work up till you just get them to work the action you might be fine.

Your not going to get quite the pressure as you will with a jacketed bullet either so the faster powders might work in your favor just a little better. If you have a chrony just keep an eye on what your getting as you work up, but even so I still think as long as they eject and chamber the next round you "shouldn't" have much if any issue.

I've used Berry's bullets in my M-1 Carbine here recently and used H110 powder, according to my Chronograph, they are going out right at 1850-1900 FPS, never had a hic cup using this bullet, and haven't noticed any unusual leading or copper build up either. I've found these bullets to be extremely accurate also. I've been using 14.5 grains of H110.

"...Must be something special in Canadian brass..." Mostly Winchester(I think. Carbines are evil up here now unless you have a barrel longer than 18.5") and it just doesn't stretch.
To trim .30 Carbine or not has been discussed at length on every forum on the planet.

I also use the Xtreme plated 110s.
15.0 grains of H110 ~1900 FPS with no problems.
My carbine will not run reliably with anything less than a full load.
Also trim brass after each firing. They always grow.
Last thing I'd ever want is an out of battery firing.
