Report back when you've taken it to the range! I've been eyeing one for quite some time now, but keep hearing the Colt Police in the background, and who could argue with a .36 cal?

Do you happen to have a Colt .31 or .36 Pocket Police/Navy to compare the size/weight to?

Rodwha, there's no comparison, the Remington disappears into your pocket and is half the weight or seemingly so.

Fun gun and you have steel frame, so use 4Fg powder and .323 round ball and have fun with it! It desperately needs a taller front sight as you will soon find out.

The loading lever hurts our hands so we use the Tower of Power cylinder stand to load with most of the time.

I would suggest you load the Remington cylinder off the revolver. One of the weak points of the little Remington is the pivot hole on the rammer tends to break when used. Not easily repaired and not an inexpensive replacement part.

No, the hole in the lever, mine broke and I soldered it back together, but never loaded with it again .

I load mine with a press as well. The lever definitely isn't very robust looking.

re: the various sizes, I now have the Remingotn .31, the Colt .31, and the Colt pocket .36 and each one is quite a bit larger than the previous, in that order.

Pay attention to strawhats comment above. He knows what he's talking about. Nowadays I load nearly everything with a loader and the cylinder off the gun. Works a lot easier and saves a BUNCH of wear and tear on the gun.

I find the Colts revolvers to be the same size, built on the same frame, just different holes in the cylinder and barrel. In what way are yours different in size?

I'm curious too.

It also seems the barrels get at least an extra 1/2". Taylor's does offer a 3.5" .36 cal Police barrel w/o the loader lever assembly. Straight off of the shelf Cimarron offers a Police with a 4.5" barrel.

absolutely correct about the breakable loading lever. I had to replace my first one because I had attempted to compress a charge of Swiss that was more dense than the same volume of goex. A lot of people follow the above advise and avoid uisng the lever at all. Mine functions very well -surprising given the small size . It hits high but at ten and 15 yards, gets off-hand groups a lot like the colt 31s.

The grip/frame area's the same size. At least in the models I've seen the .31 has a 4" barrel and the .36 a 5.5-6.5" barrel which may not sound like a lot but given the relatively small size of the overall gun it's a big difference. Additionally in my case the .31 doesn't have a loading lever and the .36 does so the whole front of the gun just looks massive on the .36 compared to the .31.

Pocket 36 Navy and 49 in .31 Pretty neat looking in charcoal

Surprising how much smaller the Remington is. I need to get somewhere where I can see them in my hand.

What do you owners think of the Remington spur trigger? Guess I'm just used to a trigger guard...

It's a little weird but I agree it's OK on a little gun like that. It's not anywhere near as awkward as shooting a Paterson.

Very nice little revolver1 I have not had the pleasure to ever shoot one, I bet it feels good!
Just how much difference there is betwee the small .31 and a small .36 as a pratical self defense gun? Evidentally there was enough for Colt to bring out a ,36 on a .31 frame! When you consider the difference between a smokeless .32and what's possible from a .31 ought to be quite a lot!
I really like the looks of the little remington

1 sure is a tiny thing compared to a Colt!

The trigger pull on my remington is extra light so, the shape doesn't become an issue.

For use in the 21st century, no practical difference, either one will get you killed. Back when medicine was a name and not a science, ithey were viable calibers as infection, amputation etc were not things folks wanted to endure.

Colts brought out the Pocket Navy and Pocket Police for the same reason they introduced the 1860, sales. Even today, there are some who prefer the largest caliber they can get in a certain frame size.

after reading the posts, i think i,ll sell it, do you think 150.00 shipped it a good price to ask for it? eastbank.
