ooohhh thank you very much god knows i dont like ordering from midway and even better since they are back ordered there and these are cheaper!

A .311" cast bullet will work quite well in .30-30 IF a round loaded with one will chamber freely. Throat diameter is more important to cast bullet shooting than groove diameter.

My 788 will not handle that big a bullet, but there were a lot of old Krags and Springfields that would.

You would be liklier to be able to use the .309" bullets but they might take more tinkering with loads.

There's no reason to use a .311 bullet in a 30-30 when 308s and 309s are availbale for the same price or less. .309s generally work bettera nd that's what I use in my Marlin. Mine is a mild load giving me 357 energies and leading is not really a problem even with Micro Groove rifling.

.311s would be good for an 303 or a 7.62x54r.

Google cast bullets for a variety of suppliers.

Suggested sizing dia. for lead bullets in a .303 British is .314.

Lead sizing for .30 cal.'s .308, .309, .310. This is per Lyman's suggestions.

Slug your bore.

If you read the cusomer reviews of the Midway bullet, they worked great in 30-30's.
but heck yea,go with cheaper and availabel at Missouri bullet .!

Back when I shot 30-30 I used .311 cast GC bullets and they shot just fine. I used 22.5 grs. of IMR 3031. I shot long range cowboy (300 Yards). I couldn't get decent accuracy with .309 bullets.

It depends on YOUR .30/30.

I've gone to only shooting (sizing) my .30cal bullets to .311".

My .30/30 is a Marlin/Glenfield with MICROGROOVE barrel. For decent accuracy at full .30/30 velocities, .311" bullets are necessary.

I too had a Remington M788 bolt action in .30/30. It was very, very accurate, but too had a very short and tight throat. It DEMANDED a .309" bullet, which is what I started bullet casting with in Highschool about a 100yrs ago.. (actually early '70's....).

I loaded them for my newer 94. I even sluged the bore. I have a .300'' bore and about a .3085'' grove.

I used .311'' bullets but I only dared to try them in reduced loads.
